Limit To Your Love Bassline
How does James Blake get the underlying wobble in his track to be so damn heavy? It's the go to song for when I need to shake the foundations of my house. I know there are plenty of songs with heavy basslines, ('Anti-War Dub' and 'The Judgement' off the top of my head), but they don't seem to come close to the Limit To Your Love bassline. Any ideas on how he does it?

Hey guys!
I've never heard this sound before, and i hope that someone has an idea of how to recreate it.
It appears at 1:46 and 1:49
Thanks in advance!

Dude has got to be one the best ever. Anyone have any ideas on how he's processing those vocals. Everything sounds so fresh and original.

halp.
The sound itself seems to be simple, maybe a bit of frequency splitting to add some brightness to it, but I have no idea how to put the sound together
Thank you in advance.

I've been looking for a long time on how to do this, I'm guessing it's pretty simple but I don't know what to search when looking for it.
I've noticed that a few producers (Coffi, Audiak, Gajit & Hasty, Vodex) have these pretty sick wobbles that I would like to know how to make.
Here's some examples:

Oh, and does anyone know how to replicate the wobble from Coki - Mapper?

I was thinking the same thing earlier... so I made a patch in massive.talizman wrote:Hey guys!

It is a pretty basic sound.
Two oscillators, both Square waves.
One pitched down two octaves, the other pitched down one.
LFO or envelopes on the cut off. I automated it to go from 0 to nearly 11 o'clock.
The key is the resonance, so slap a LFO on there as well.
Sorry for the scatterbrained response...
Creating a Phaeleh bass/wobble?
after the drop at 1:23 I'd be interested to know how to make a similar sound. I have albino and massive, which would be the best to create a similar sort of sound? If possible could one of you give me a summary of what factors i need to incorporate to make this kind of bass? cheers

Gaving a granulizing synth like Alchemy should makes it pretty easy to replicate any synth in theory, right? I figure if your trying to make the sound for a remix you could just sample the bass and mix it in with your own synthesized bass? I've been really curious about this im about to grab it right now
Re: How To Make This Sound - January 2012
The bass first thing on the drop, quite a few people use the same kinda dynamics on their bass now and I'd love to know how to do it

massive snare hits?
hey guys,
wondering if anyone had any advice on how to get these huge snare hits. They make an incredible "thwack" sound if you will haha. I assume multiple layers and compression as well as the right samples. appreciate any advice. The first track isn't dubstep but the snare reminds me of lots of similiar dubstep snare sounds.
at 10 seconds...

this one is more of a synthesized sound I believe not necessarily a snare perhaps but I really admire that sound.
thanks again.

I've been messing around with pitches and envelopes in Massive for a good hour now and still can't get anything close to recreating this 'zippy' kinda sound that plays throughout the whole track. Any help would be appreciated.
And if you're feeling extra helpful, I'm also stuck on that high pitched wobble they layer over the sub at 28 seconds.

To me it sounds like a sample thats been EQ'd, like a siren or somethingtugglez wrote:I've been messing around with pitches and envelopes in Massive for a good hour now and still can't get anything close to recreating this 'zippy' kinda sound that plays throughout the whole track. Get the adsr on your master env to copy the sound, I had about 11 attack, 12 release and 11 decay and 1 'o clock level on the decay.
Osc 1 is a crude waveform pitched to 24, wavetable all the way left, rest full, env 1 assigned to the pitch for +12.
osc 2 same as osc 1 but bend+, wt position all the way right, intensity at just below 12, and amp at 2.
filter 1: bandpass, cutoff at somewhere between 9 and 10 with envelope 4 on, which goes to just below 3. bandwidth at 11, resonance at just below 12.
on fx I have a chorus and a dimension expander which are pretty easy to do yourself, chorus is about 10 o clock wet.
env 1: attack at 10/11 everything else full apart from delay.
voicing: 4 unison
and under the osc tab turn on restart via gate
that pretty much covers it, with some eq, reverb and additional filters (I used a comb and another bandpass) you can get pretty much the same sound. hope this helps

Re: How To Make This Sound - January 2012
I can hear a comb filter but not much else :/ I think vylex uses reason, maybe mess around with modulating the cutoff on a comb filter in combination with a high resonance other filter?minusworld wrote:Soundcloud
i just can't seem to recreate this bass in massive .
anybody want to help me out?
Re: How To Make This Sound - January 2012
Been really reluctant to ask for help on this one, but I just can't get it right.
I'm looking to make an early-era dubstep bass. Best example I can think of would be Benga's "Amber" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ldVmVBxv4bI) The thing alternates between being subby and sounding like... well... wet farts, and I assume this effect is controlled by a resonator but I might be way off.
Any help with this one would greatly appreciated and if any especially generous individuals want to get real specific, I'm working in Reason.

Re: How To Make This Sound - January 2012
Does anyone know how to make this sizzle out bit crush effect?
Thats how i describe it anyway. I cant find a tutorial on this because i dont really know what its called, but i THINK its a bit crush(redux) with a high pass filter. No idea though. I would love to use it in a track i have going, can anyone help me out?
Its in this song - Xilent - Skyward http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fOf7303SPmM

I believe its a pretty common trick, used in multiple productions. Sounds like the bass just sizzles out.
Thanks much!

Could somebody point me in the direction of how to get a snare similar to the one in this song?

Re: How To Make This Sound - January 2012
Yes, the resonance of the filter is enveloped with a long attack. Meanwhile the cutoff is wobbling, sure you know how to do that. The waveform is just a saw I think. I made something just like this in Sylenth once.tge wrote:Been really reluctant to ask for help on this one, but I just can't get it right.
