You're right, but the fact that it isn't dubstep is not an opinion. You cannot objectively call it dubstep.garethom wrote:You're not a hipster if you don't like a certain sort of music. Believe it or not mate, some people genuinely don't like it. They aren't pretending.
Grammy nomination as indicator of quality? LOL.
Everyone that's slating this guy's list. It's his opinion man. He's not forcing you to listen to them. If you disagree with him, make your own list. Rather than sit there slagging tracks another guy likes, let people know about songs you do like, maybe they'll pick up on them.

if you honestly didn't understand what i wrote, then maybe should go back to english grade 5? you all take it so seriously.. it's music, music will always evolve in every genre. you're all so worried about appearing cool for listening to music that isn't well known, and here dubstep is starting to get more and more known.. which is obviously the reason you're getting mad. i haven't heard one valid excuse as to why everyone hates skrillex and other 'brostep' producers. you can't say skrillex is shit, sure you can dislike his music, but you can't say that you hate him because he's shit. because we both know that his production skills are out of this world. he came in, changed the game, all hipsters got mad because they can't listen to something that's going mainstream. skrillex is nominated for 5 grammys.. is burial? ask yourself that.
Lmao, every single sentence in this post is hilariously naive, misguided or just stupid. So many ridiculous assumptionsThrilla wrote:@scattbean and @ difference

Well the style that Flux, Skrillex, and Nero have been making in recent years is a new style of dubstep. The old/classic style is still around and thrives in the underground. But you can't say that something that has the same beat rhythm and structure is not dubstep just because it's a new style of the genre.joeki wrote:regardless of all the bullshit in that post which seriously doesn't even need addressing, what caught my eye was this :
"skrillex has mad production skills that changed the game"
You should have gone over some soundclouds two years ago man, there were small people producing this sound (and even back then getting a lot of hatred for it). The problem was they didn't have a commercial machine behind them to begin with, in that aspect, skrillex was a pioneer.
It's simply not dubstep man. I've never seen Skrillex saying for himself that he's the new child of dubstep. It's marketeers and retarded people with no musical knowledge whatsoever (let alone insight into subcultures including dubstep) who have been making these claims from the beginning.
I go out, with much pleasure, to a Bad Religion concert, they're mainstream as fuck. I go out to see James Blake amongst the hipster crowd, simply because I like his music, I immensely enjoyed M83 when he was touring in support of his debut album (don't like the new one by the way). I have no problem with mainstream and moving amongst it. That's just beside the issue.
That's a fact is it? Get the fuck out of here with that 'end of story' crap...luke snowbarger wrote:I do feel like Sonny overshadowed a lot of talent. But don't bash him for making it. You just look ignorant, not smart. It's really not rocket science. He worked hard. He played hard. He's extremely talented. Put underground and the past aside, Sonny set a new standard. It is what it is.
Cinema was the top dubstep track of 2011, simply because it was the top dubstep track of 2011. End of story.
