Can anyone shed some light on this sound? It is the crushing stabby sound found at 1:24, I've searched for advice on these types of synths but nothing I have done has yielded very good results.

What am I looking for? Vocoding doesn't seem to be it, I want something that will either listen to my voice/recording and apply the correct filtering, either as an external plugin or whatever. Vocoder does seem close, I'll admit, but I'm not seeing one that does well enough. It's more robotic and less real feeling. I'd like something I could put over my other synths.

I have a legal copy of Reaktor, and wanted to try out "the mouth" but it's annoying and you only get 30 minutes to mess with it. Is it worth the full price? It seems like as a synth it's not very good, but if I could really trigger it with midi to act as an effect over other synths...

And if not The Mouth, what else?

thanks if anyone figures it out :3
theres alot of movement in there pads. you could try looping the decay of an instrument and drenching it in reverb

beautiful pad sound

Post by malloy09 » Sat Aug 18, 2012 6:44 pm

ok so this pad sound comes in around 43 seconds. Its so awesome and triumphant. I hear it alot in these sorts of tunes and I was wondering if anyone knew what synth it came from. I'm gunna assume its a preset since I hear it in so many different producers songs and it sounds similar in all their songs.

I've got some 3.5 inch car stereo speakers (good quality, hundred bucks for a pair easy), a 6x9 stock car speaker... I think I might use one of them. But it looks like everyone uses compression drivers. I just don't think they'd have the low end I'd like.

low pitch vocal effect?

starting at about 0:50

I kinda have the idea of how to achieve this effect(until some point), and I'm going to start experimenting right away, but maybe you guys know if theres a plugin that keeps things clean and clear.
thx

Most important thing would be to start with a good voice that already nearly hits in that register. Then as far as I can tell it's just pitched down a little bit and has some light vocoding+delay. Might play around with it, never tried to make an Optimus Prime voice.

Muted stuttering sound

Post by stepintomydub » Mon Aug 20, 2012 5:34 am

Hi,
For a while now I've wondered how dubstep producers get their stuttering muted-guitar-kinda sound. I've linked three examples of this phenomenon for you to understand what I mean. It would be really helpful to get some tips.
Thank you for now.
