Yes, I have heard this too. Not sure how factual it is, and remember there are at least three kinds of lathes out there..not just Neumann.geiom wrote:They told me years ago that there was only one old guy in germany who could fix the cutter heads on Neumann Lathes and that he only had 1 apprentice - like some kind of mad yoda/luke skywalker situation.
SO KEEP CUTTING DUBS AND WEAR THE DAMN TINGS OUT SO IT REMAINS PROFITABLE FOR THESE LATHE REPAIR SHOPS TO STAY IN BUSINESS
or...
STOP CUTTING DUBS AND STICK TO VINYL T.P.'s SO WE CAN MAKE THE DAMN TINGS LAST LONGER AND THE SPARES DON'T RUN OUT.
hopefully someone more informed on this than I will come onto this thread and give us all the answer..
I hate to think that the demise of vinyl would eventually come down to a small piece of metal with a couple wires attached.
and on another format issue..
LONG LIVE VHS! (lol) how come JVC, PANASONIC and SONY have all stopped manufacturing VCR's?
But that's another thread ( and probably way off topic )
