The snare roll is actually the hihats. Make triplet hihat patterns with different velocities on some of the hits.

Mess with the velocities and when they hit, just mess around really

I've been trying to get something similar to what Datsik used in his U don't like me remix. I use FM8 and Massive. Anyone have an idea on how to get this sound?

The sound I'm talking about starts at the beginning of the song.

Sounds pretty simple to me dude.
There's two ways to achieve this easily with massive, you can either apply the automatic vibrato on the 'osc' tab with desired rate, or you can manually link an lfo to the pitch of every oscillator used roughly 20-40 cents, obviously you can use more if you want but remember the more cents you use the more the vibrato would exaggerate. Play with the lfo shape, I'm sure it's a simple sine lfo though, everything should be as saw wave as far as I'm hearing, maybe an additional PWM osc, even generous amount of scream filtering to achieve that more screech effect to it. But yeah, pretty simple mang.

Sound at 1.17, and even more prominent at 1.54






God, I love that grainy reesey sound so much but I can't seem to get anywhere close to it.

My method:
>Take any reese, hell you could even use a fat electro style saw bass. Record a note (I used g#). This is what mine sounded like to start with, it's some really awul z3ta preset from a pack but it's got a lot of frequencies you can play with (Edit: just realised I bounced that note an octave too high - it really does sound terrible haha oh well).

>Chuck it in harmor, slap on some unison and play with the pitch/phase settings to get it sounding "phasy" hehe. Play with the prism setting to make it sound "un-shit", I literally turn the knob till it sounds okay. Make sure in the advanced tab you have everything on high or best quality, no denoise. Add some distortion, maybe compress it in the mids and highs using "warming" or "burning". Record it. Atm it'll probably sound "wet" and a bit "empty".
>Chuck it into Kontakt, add a phaser as an insert (I tend to use either the default, airy or screaming preset), adjust feedback and wet/dry. Again it probably sounds really "empty".

As for chopping, I didn't do any, just made a stuttered pattern. Layered with a 100bpm drum loop and silly vocals and done.
I also had a pad in there, playing a chord but I don't think you can hear it tbh.

Overall it may sound like a lot of work and be complicated, but it's not. When it comes down to it it's mainly button pushing/knob turning until you make something cool, once you get into the flow you can just rinse and repeat, use different settings each time and make more cool stuff.

Edit 2: Also I like your reese, try cutting up some bits and running them through a chain like I suggested.

I have a reversed snare before some of the drum hits, cut the end of the sample if you get a click/clip. Make sure you align them perfectly so the rev'd thing sucks into the drum hits, also lowering the pitch and volume can make them sound better. Also reverse reverb could help but I didn't do that.

Plus I have a sidechained white noise swoosh going down 2 bars then back up 2 bars then down 2 bars then back up 2 bars haha, like a swooshing wave.
