Government disregards its own laws all day. Personally I wouldn't put much faith in something like a statute of limitations, but I'm talking about harassment as well, and using past things against someone in the courts to build a case against them. Like so called 'character assassination'. I mean even getting hauled in for questioning can turn your life upside down pretty bad depending on the circumstances.DRTY wrote:I don't think you can change the law then retro arrest people?

Aiight Mason, you generally seem reasonable (for real) on most things. I do wonder. Why do you believe government should have the right to nullify private contracts between companies and customers for its own gain? You didn't address my last post on this either. But this is what they've doing here. All paranoia asside, what you're saying is 'if the government wants to know more about private matters, it's ok for it to breach contract laws without asking for permission'. What other contract rights are they able to take from you? None? All?
And here is a concrete example of the government using 1 law that eroded privacy, that they promised to use ONLY against "terrorism" for another cause, apprehending drug trafficers.

Yes, it is. It's what his position comes down to. He's justifying the breach contracts by a third party, without actually considering that that's what he's doing. I'm just putting it into perspective.Phase Down wrote:you and your "what your saying is....." no thats not what hes said

lol at you read his posts and hes saying nothing like it, if anything its more like "conspiracy theorists are attention seekers and if you put stuff on the internet expect it to be taken" your perspective is taking things to the next level on things he never said... unless im missing something major feel free to let me know what he said that is near "i think its okay for government to breach contracts without asking permission"
Re: Expert: "Quit Google & Facebook" If They Colluded With P
He's said that 'if you don't want the gov. to spy on you like that, stop using the internet/social networks/etc'. I'm saying that it's not just the 'spying' that is the problem here. I know he isn't consciously, saying 'breaching contracts is fine', but in effect, that's what he's justifying. I brought the point up before and he didn't engage it (maybe he didn't see it or just didn't bother, not accussing him of shit). I think he's missing a big part of the picture by only looking at it from that one angle. Like he's doing here:
...NSA and laws like that breach those terms of conditions.
And you've got to ask yourself that, if the government is benevolent and you have nothing to fear, why do they seek to establish a law that breaches private agreement between citizens? This isn't paranoia. This is a very fair question.
He also said that the paranoia is speculative and that he wants some concrete examples of the government abusing anti-privacy laws, which I also linked to in one of my posts.
He's right, if you agree with the terms of the conditions, you're agreeing to a contract and you have a choice not to do that... But..Mason wrote:I'm not saying i read the terms and conditions (fuck that) i just think that if you ticked a box which said you agree with whatever the t&c's say, regardless if you read it or not, then you can't complain when they do something which they say they will in their terms and conditions.

To be perfectly honest with you i think i misunderstood the point of the article/didn't read it properly, I didn't realise that contracts were being breached. However, i do stand by most of my points and do think that you can't really complain about the things you put on the internet being read by the government.
