This is the most important thing. It's pretty well known people hate the terms 'Dungeon' and 'Future Garage' round here, but we all know what they're talking about when someone uses it.

I still don't know what future garage is.

I thought it meant Garage made after like 2009 or something. Are we sure its not just the name of the forum whistla set up and got taken too litterally?

this '130' stuff varies wayyyy to much to give it a genre, and the whole needing a genre to refer to it as something, seems like the first step towards it stagnating. :?

.... if anything ever gets labled as "liquid 130"

If you ignore the 3 and a half pages of recommendations and links and focus on the handful of tongue-in-cheek posts, I can see that it might look like that...

Gonna come up eventually though ennit, people are gonna wanna/need to know what to call it when bringing it up, I guess, and it's hardly a surprise pure music geeks like us are the ones to ordain it.

Yeah can't say how irritated I am that I can't go to that EMMA album launch. Will be a great one no doubt, big fan of everyone on the bill.

skimpi wrote:130 is a lame name though, why call this shit just based on its tempo, you cant just say you like 130 cos everything is different, well not everything, there does seem to be a collective of people who are making a similar vibe :/
hey man im not the boss of the names its just so me thing people have been using to grou p a few simlimar things together. its simple a nd easy. like i said, it doesn t need a 'genre', cos ppl know what ur talking about when u just say '130'
skimpi wrote:and waht you mean you didnt know ballads was 130? you mean you didnt know it was exactly 130? does this music have to be 130? lol do you not make 130 if your tune is 132? thats the lame thing, like dubstep, why does it have to be the exact bpm lol, it wouldnt matter if Ballads was 125, you could still play it with a 130 tune if you NEED to stick to that tempo haha
woah woah woahhhh chill out i was jus passing comment, i didnt mean any thi gn by it.
i thought it was like 90/100 bpm. theres no rules that forbid minor bpm variations or anything mad like that. calm ur passions brer :w:
anyway man some dubstep tunes vary from the ol' 140, goat stare and root are both 136

man that launch night sounds class...but ten days after im leaving london :[ clammin to go to it but cant afford the £80 train back down. :(...
have a dank time everyone who goes :t:

completely understand people wanting to make points about the genre/not a genre debate and that its unavoidable to some extent, freedom of speech etc(I see strong arguments on both sides), but would really love this thread to just be about posting tunes around 130 bpm tempo in current uk dance music instead. Will prove a lot more useful and enjoyable for people trying to introduce themselves to this sort of thing I feel.

ye agreed, everyone know s what to call this stuff (vaguely) and also know the vein of music every1 is referring to (i know thers a huge variety but its all from a silimar spectrum). so its all gravy :4:

and when u post like 9000 links in one post it takes ages for th e tread to open for ppl who havwe wooden computers orshit internet
