Doom and Madlib, well .. they are close to being actual enigmatic paradigmes - that change how things are done and the same culd be said for maybe Burial, for his vision and changing the way a lot of people produce. But the rest of what people are mentioning here - has nothing to do with genious - it's just good proper flavor that others can follow.
In my book you can't become a genious for just doing the best beats, the beats I enjoy the most or just having a defined swing - like for example Dilla or Noisia or dBridge.
