no there definitely wasnt no trouble, nor did i mean to insinuate there was... SOZ! fast words typed at work! tbh deVille is right its just about wots ur cuppa.
i do find tho a lot of men dont want to talk to women about music, especially not records themselves. that relates to the detroit scene especially cuz its so full of heads. yeah it is definitely i think the reason why girls dont get involved in music so much. i wanted to be when i was younger... probably wldnt be doign journo stuff without a male friend who pushed me on... was a shy kid so i was completely put off by feelin intimidated by competitiveness and some of the comments that do get made. i have a girl-friend who djs pretty hard techno and she has many more experiences of this; she's less timid tho so wont let herself b put off! she once got beaten by a guy cuz she was djing topless but was also better than him and he got jealous...
it is really safe peeps talkin bout this! umm...
the reason i picked up on strippers thing i think is just that its so widespread - myspace is an eg with girls thinking they have to put pics of themselves up in they undies, i find it kinda depressing. i'm not about blamin or sayin stuff is wrong its just i wld like to more women being about more than just bein sexy to look at. conversely if u see peeps out there doing something u want to do and wasnt sure u cld, its encouraging. like how lady sov always checks ms dynamite for showing her it cld be done. get me?
safe to virus and plastic. um i'm well on this women djs male strippers idea now i'm reading the arts council funding proposals form

oops jackquinox soz that was meant to be an answer but it wasnt quite was it? its not association to the music i dont think at all. is more about communities, how and over what people bond i reckon. detroit is v interesting cuz with the garage bands (i'm told) its sppsed to b a great scene to be a girl in.
us/europe difference is very interesting also (cp us hip hop with uk hip hop and/or grime?) i find it baffling!

totally - I feel the same and this is a shame. hardly any of my mates are into this scene and it is a shame that I wouldn't feel 100% happy about going to a night on my own just to hear the music.
saying that, normally everyone is there for one reason, that is the tunes. when a scene gets bigger and people are at events who aren't really that bothered about the music, this is when they find time to hassle the girls.

Haha love it, and get all women mc's as well...

My first thought when I saw this thread was: too bad nobody is gonna care about the music ...

Maybe I'm wrong, but to me it seems like a strange concept. Wouldn't like male or female strippers when I play. To me, that's totally irrelevant, I care about the music and nothing else. Call me old- fashioned or whatever, but that's my personal thought.

Fair. It looked a really good night, and I totally believe that people were there for the music and the vibes. But obviously the whole strip club thing raises questions about the scene in general - such as why it's so male orientated right now, and why some people...both girls
and guys...might be put off by the idea. Strip clubs aren't for everyone.
I guess I prefer the 'meditating on bass weight' idea of a really dark room with a huge system - for me, this is the dubstep experience. But hey. It's all about the music at the end of the day

Just thought I'd put a theory up for public thrashing...
From my South London point of view, when Garage died a death alot the gals did Bosman free transfers to Funky House, R&B or that slow jams fraff. These were the same girls that probably prefered sweet like chocolate and Flowers, along with male bandwagon jumpers of garage. Whereas the peepz that were digging garage/2 step from day dot and were more your Wookie, darker 2 step or Heartless/PAUG/So Solid garage listener (few different examples ya get the jist) have tended to migrate slowly toward Grime or Dubstep...these people have tended to be on the whole fellas. Especially in the case of Grime, less so in the case of Dubstep...
Oui or Non?
Obviously this theory doesn't include migrations from other scenes, I'm just talking from my own personal viewpoint and area.

I'm not into strip clubs and as someone said... for me it's about about the meditating on bass weight. If i wanna see nasty pus dancing for cash I go check old Peter Stringy.
more women go to fwd>> and DMZ now than a year ago. but i have been to many DMZ and have seem a nice number of female skankers. I got speaking with this girl once and she said she loves the music and the vibe because peoples is there for the music. I love seeing gilrs skank at DMZ but becuase of the vibe everyone seems to be really friendly and respectful of each other. Men will try it. its nature. I guess its all about the way its done!

Why Haven't you learned anything

most definitely oui. i was talking to a female acquaintance a year or so ago about how i'd been getting massively into grime but had never really been feeling garage at all (apart from Flowers and Sweet Like Chocolate, which i adored pretty much in isolation, i'm perfectly happy to admit), and she was like 'god that's so typically male - garage is for girls, grime is for guys'. which obviously is a colossal generalisation but a v interestin one. i dunno if that has anything to do with the fact i'm from sahf as well..?
nice use of a reference to Bosman, lol. that'll confuse a few ppl.

i migrated (recently - bandwagon?

) so i cant really say. but yeah re south i'm from NW and round there at that time it was all rnb and shiz. i had heard some darker garage and but knew no peeps who were into it. have always liked darker music though its funny when people think girls dont like scary stuff i dont generally find that to be the case.xxxxx peace
