Dude! What the HELL are you talking about?!!?!?!?! Everyone knows that Denver is responsible for the genesis of every so called 'UK-urban' music scene there's been since 1643. Christ, I'm surprised you even know how to tie your shoe laces.

EDIT: Sorry, it's been a long day.

I agree with this statement fully.
Also i find it funny how 'naked' by shackleton (dont me wrong i think both the drop and Skull Disco are killer) is used to illustrate a dubstep bass drop, when shackleton has never said he was dubstep (i do think he is tho) and plays a sound quite removed from the average dubstep sound.
Finally i think the Exodus night in Leeds should be added as well in the 'growth' section of the artical, for reasons which i think should be obvious. Just a mention would be fine no links need to be added, people should be intelligent enough to do that on their own behalf.
If reference is needed for that i think in an old issue of dj mag there is a fair few lines bigging it up, or the fact it is also the 'northern dmz'
blessed is the sound of the operator

thanks martyn, and yeah i appreciate the oddness of using a shackleton track there. bit of a personal bias cos he's one of the people really pushing the envelope imo, one of my favourite artists full stop let alone dubstep artists.

it is a massive drop though, isn't it?

cyrus, i've added you to list of dubstep artists, which is a compromise for the time being. really enjoyed from the shadows btw. also it's not an excuse to add everyone with a myspace page and no record deal to that page (notability in effect again). now all someone needs to do is write the random trio article...

i really want people from here to contribute to the article.

to that end, i thought an 'essential reading' list would be a good thing to post. at the moment, people seem to be of the mindset that one or two people 'own' the article. to make a really bad dubstep pun, no one is the gatekeeper :P

so contribute away! but PLEASE read these first:

notability
verifiability
no original research
neutral point of view
writing an article about yourself = bad idea.

Where's that Guardian article about how important Corpsey has been to the downfall of dubstep and western society in general?

''DUBSTEP: ROOTS''

Corpsey invented dubstep in 2001 by farting onto the surface of a balloon while listening to Lee Scratch Perry. He passed El-B and Benny Ill a couple of balloons, a Lee Scratch Perry CD and a can of extra spicy beans two weeks later and history was made.
