Yeah its a terrible term, by extension it suggests that everything else isn't highbrow enough.

A bit like LTJ Bukem's phrase 'Intelligent Drum n Bass'.

in fairness that's not Bukem's phrase. He hated it and tried to discourage it, for exactly the reason you give (it suggests that everything else isnt highbrow enough)
