@ misk: i couldn't get you're Download to work...so i still haven't heard it...:-(

just a had a quick play around with me patch...a bit messy but thought i'd share it (again)...need to sort levels and compression out tommorow, but i've enough paths and territory's atleast to take this into a 45-1hr set.

crap mash.mp3 - 3.48MB

btw i'm playing a gig this friday...a friend is scratchin dub vocals and records over my playing...we did a rehearsal...surprisingly more difficult than live breakcore, atleast i found this to be the case :o

Yo!
relatively new to this here community
Just found this thread,
I too have been producing a bit, and am mixing with ableton.
I really am trying to fuse my own stuff though into the mixes...

@ spencer I'm feeling what you've posted, and its encouraging to hear the potential others are finding with improv.

@ misk I love the thunderhead track on your myspace

peace

Thanks for the kind words 'shtrofuké' not sure how you pronounce your name :-) as for 'fusing' your stuff into mixes...i'm just keeping it strictly my own works...that would be like back to 'Dj'ing', for me atleast.

Anyway

Tonight; Firebug in Leicester...

Me AKA PurePhase, feat/James Kelly (improvised dubstep and James scratching roots vocals, sounds and BBC archives) (11pm)

also Playing: I-Mitri and Dushume

it's for charity (Oxfam) show starts at 9pm i think

i'll report back how things went, if it's anything like last nights rehearsal, then it'll be a good show.

then it's over to The Park for Aba-shanti-i sound system
(i've reduced my setup down to laptop only so i can go to the show after, at the same time i've reduced my CPU usage on my patch from 72% to 38% - gotta leave work early today to work out one more bass line)

Hey,

I've been constructing some live set patches lately for my live sets. I play dubstep/idm live a lot round here,

here's a quick set I made at home, practicing for my upcoming gigs. It's live manipulated grooveboxing/pattern funk, along with some vst which i also control on the fly.

http://www.hear.fi/~toiminto/chekup2008anddance.mp3

this one is more idm flavour, but with dubstep-ish aesthetics. the first maybe 10 minutes is completely live, only with some pre-set patterns which i modify on the fly, after that i mix a couple of my tracks into it. gets bit hectic in the end but its only a practice run :)

toiminto, will have a proper listen tommorow, caught about 1 minute of it at work then had to er...work...know what you mean about the IDM sounds etc...

i did a gig tonight...(first dubstep improv gig) it went very well, sounded pretty fat (though promoter messed things up and we went on earlier hence me being home and online)...

anyway...we're now booking...

makes a world of difference having another person on stage making sounds alongside me unlike previously.

I used to use laptops for live shows, but I found hardware does a better job for me. I can afford to have my sampler break versus my Laptop breaking. 500 bucks versus 2000 bucks...easy choice there.
that sp-555 looks sick - 2gigs of sample space? thats got so much potential!
does it sequence too?
n can you control yr SHs with it?
and can you program SWIIIIIING (shuffle) into the beats
actually do ya have any live recordings? that sounds like a sick set up, im rly interested to hear wht its capable of...

yeah i've messed with the 555 a bit and it's suprisingly dope. highly reccomended. I've thought about throwing my laptop into my live set, if only for some atmospherics... afaik the 555 does sequence too. its kinda like a roland version of the mpc 500... sort of.. kind of...
