Well, it stands for de-militarized zone, and abbreviating it to DMZ is a US ting. And the UK doesn't do DMZs to the same extent the US does (Gibraltar vs Korea/Vietnam)....

been wondrin about dis myself recently. seen a lot of interviews where they say "d-m-zed' and i'm like what who talks like this?

i guess i've been saying it wrong this whole time.
