one of the best reclamations of public space I have ever witnessed - pole dancing, covering those crappy adverts with your own art, covering the halogen lights with nice colours, music, drinks, commuters joining in and all in good spirit and mirth - don't think it will ever happen again on that scale now that Boris 'party pooper' Johnson has arrived. If its something you can manage without for all this time and is only a seasonal activity then thats not much an argument against it really?

People hyping all over this but have you not seen the zones in town centers etc where alchohol consumption is prohibitied anyways? Thats what gets me more angry!

what i find 'humorously' ironic is the fact that while cannabis is blamed for a lot of youth violence and mental health problems hence the regrading, there is nothing socially worrying about a highly paid London lawyer hitting the bottle after breaking up with his wife and shooting shotgun shells at his neighbours and police on one of London's most famous streets in a residential area....

I've seen peeps like that on weed on a few occasions. Last year I witnessed a couple of people attacking each other while on ecstasy, something I cant even begin to understand....

I do agree. Alcohol does bring out those negatives. But I think the stress in people's live's is the main cause, especially when violence is concerned. It causes peeps to take more of something than they should and the underlining stress brings out the negative aspects more.

I think a similar thing applies to booze. As its consumed more widely your going to get a lot more problems but the vast majority of people will happily drink and not cause any hassle. Its just that if something does happen it becomes the focal point.

It leads back to this stupid law Boris 'Liability' Johnson wants to implement. Its just a way of clouding over the real issue with stupid policies. You live in a big city full of overworked stressed out folk. Unfortunately, violence will occur. Who knows, maybe taking a can off someone on a bus might just tip them over the edge. seriously doubt the ban can be enforced. London nightbus drivers get enough abuse as it is, without having to tell passengers off for drinking. Drivers ain't gonna make their own jobs even more stressful.
