The quality does not come from the DAW, it comes from years of experience, EQ, compression, limiting, mixing, sound design, and last but not least mastering. Work on all those things and you'l be one step closer to your goal. If you work well with FL then use it. No DAW will help you make quality "beats" in minutes, like they advertise.

^ only been lurking this forum a few days and ive noticed this. its an understandable question from a beginners perspective though, just wish theyd have a read through though and find the advice thats already there, rather than ask what someone asked 4 posts above them.

Pretty much going to say what's been already said, the DAW doesn't make the producer. Hit songs have been made on fl studio, ableton, and many others. The software is merely a tool. Pick one of and learn the ins and outs.

technology is bs. i see the daw market in 20 years "select the key and style of the song, press one button and the song is ready with our cutting edge random composition technology"

Im sorry to disregard your statement. But that will never happen. man, look how critical people currently are of everyones production techniques etc.. plus there are programs that pretty much do this for you already. theyre called arpreggiators. they work well but you can tell when someones used one and unless used tastefully and matched with significant/comparable skills on the keys, its very eas to pick out and impresses no one. music automation exists man. i heard theres actually a machine/software program that rates the potential popularity of tunes, that moby helped make. dont know if thats legit or something but its food for thought. hah :D

I think i saw you mention you use FL... If you're happy and comfortable with FL then stick with FL... You can make industry standard tracks on pretty much any software, including FL Studio. It's not about what you're using, it's how you use it.

Any program is a good program. Musasashi Miyamoto once said that "a true warrior can pick up any sword, no matter what condition it is and still use it against their enemy." (maybe dumbed down what he said and yes I know we're not talking about killing or swords) but the bottom line is that if you can use a program and feel comfortable with it, then it's perfect.

Take for instance Fruity Loops (like I use) people talk shit about it and say Ableton is better, but I still get amazing results by using FL. A good friend of mine uses Cubase, which was completely foreign to me at the time and HE also concluded it was the best, needless to say I had my doubts lol. Alot of people use FL strictly because of it's easy to use piano-roll, huge layout etc etc.

SO IN CONCLUSION. Any program works, so long as you know what your doing ;)

bro i totally understand you man, it shits me, shitheads get on their high horse about which program is better. ableton looks and IS harder to use imho for production and so people who get good at it feel they have an elite edge over someone who "only uses fruity loops" simply because they have to work harder to get the sounds they want.. FORGETTING that its all about the final outcome of the sound you GET. not how technical you have to be to get it. its about what sounds good, not who worked harder to get there. if you work hard on ableton but your tunes are shit, that doesnt make you a good producer. same goes for any software. i dont need to WORK hard on fl, because its incredible fun for me. i LOVE using it and making tunes. everything about it entertains the shit out of me on so many levels.
man realistically, ALL daw's do the EXACT same thing as each other. each has its own strengths and weaknesses. each has its own clear benefits. if one WAS better than the other EVERYONE would use it because it would be the clear choice. its all an issue of layout and functionality to be completely honest with you.
i use fl cos its fast easy and fun for me. but having said that, its taken me nearly 3 years to wrap my head around it all...
