if I should pick just one it would be Liquid Swords, that one really deserves so many mentions here. apart from that, there is too many of them. surprised no one mentioned The Score by Fugees. surely it's become too obvious because of its success but those few hits and awards don't change the fact it's an amazing album from start to finish. for me at least.
3 things I miss most from the UK... swede, cider and the music scene!

Personally I believe Acey's "A Book Of Human Language" is the greatest album ever created. Good to see someone else bigging it up as it really is something special.
Have you heard the new Mumbles album? Acey is on one (maybe two?) tracks. I've only heard a few snippets but it's very lush sounding.
Here's a few other albums I believe rule the roost in the Hip Hop world....

And of course..............

wait did that dude say wu's lyrics aint on point?human? wrote:lol. just lol.ginsu wrote:you must have low standards. I cant think of an album from de la soul, tribe called quest, beastie boys, cypress, roots manuva that matches your description. dela and quest are very spotty. the first side of the first cypress is tight. dont remember license to ill but cant think of another bboys album anywhere close to being solid. dont know roots man - he has a strong voice but his lyrics never did anything for me. the first wu album has nice skits and a nice tone but they never made good on teh lyrics. half the first gravediggaz is good. illmatic has like 3 good cuts. ready to die (the unreleased uncensored vers) has a few good cuts. the geto boys second album (the first released by def american) has a strong side, same with eze's solo, and ice cubes first solo. dr octogon or the first ultra have a lot of good cuts. the first eric b and rakim the first epmd & jungle bros have hella good cuts.remedy wrote:sorry but i totally disagree with you on this...I think some of the best albums to listen to from start to finish exist within hip hop...too many examples to choose from but de la soul, tribe called quest, beastie boys, cypress, roots manuva etc. have all made albums like this...plus all the other ones people have metioned...ginsu wrote:hip hop is all about the singles. i cant even think of a hiphop album thats solid all the way through.

just because they don't talk about current world issues doesn't make their lyrics wack.Diss04 wrote:wait did that dude say wu's lyrics aint on point?human? wrote:lol. just lol.ginsu wrote:you must have low standards. You need to check out Aceyalone's "A Book Of Human Language".
There's a few others out there that are solid all the way through too but that one in particular is a gem.
36 chambers
shit even new stuff like madvillainy...

i like aceyalone's flows. not his verbage. that all balls dont bounce stuff puts me to sleep. freestyle first album has like one cut im feeling.
i prefer gravediggas lyrics to wu lyrics. at least theyre entertaining and conceptual. i swear the wu is a management company crew. yunno the style where a manager assembles his rappers and makes them form a crew.
prince paul is the producer that actually tries/tried to create actual hip hop albums. his skits are an attempt to congeal and unify random de la singles into an album. 36 chambers follows that trad. i like the wu's concept and schtick etc but yes i think theyre lyrics are lazy and borish. not tight.

oh you are funny.ginsu wrote:im not saying anything new. its standard wisdom about hip hop. but glad everyone likes everything. must get expensive though.
gravediggaz over wu? everyone knows that the wu are just a wack crew formed by a manager, right?

yeh the way you just ripped apart some of the best hip hop artists/ albums of all time in a few paragraphs is a sure sign of your wisdom...ginsu wrote:im not saying anything new. its standard wisdom about hip hop. but glad everyone likes everything. must get expensive though.

Another of my all-time fav Hip Hop albums is by the awesome UK crew Parlour Talk. The album was released in 99 and called "Padlocked Tonic". I absolutely loved the whole thing and just thought it was the beez kneez! Sadly I don't really think they lasted long??? Anyone here familiar with them???

Another awesome UK Hip Hop album was Gunshot's "International Rescue"....

Also you can't go wrong with one of the greatest lyricists of our times.........
Saul Williams
