Most producers are members here and the idea of this forum was to be a community. You wouldn't discuss with a friend whether your mate's bird is fit in front of him so why discuss whether a producers tunes are good? Especially someone like Kode 9 who was one of the pionners of this genre and helped shape the sound etc and runs one of the most popular labels in the game. The chances are you just have shit taste in music so keep your negative opinions to yourself, cos as you see in the skream thread, you just piss people off who work hard to make music. (corny analogy used I know lol)
man ur talking so much shit. The only thing that annoys me more than the recent mindless Rusko/Skream bashing is when people get so protective over music and cant listen to others peoples opinions on it. (unless its positive)
of course music is about opinions and debate, what a stupid analogy to compare it to.
Im with ABS on this one, personally HD doesnt do that much for me, aside from a select couple of kode9 tunes and burial output it doesnt really move me in anyway. Am I boring for not enjoying a certain kind of music? Has it ever occured to you that 90 percent of the population haven't heard of dubstep, nevermind hyperdub? Telling people they have a shit taste in music when they are within the same very small scene as you are is a bit stupid, it's only going to alienate and fragment the fringe groups.
I'm not saying I don't respect Kode9, man is huge in the game and hes done an absolutely massive amount to push the scene forward, particularly in a couple of key areas i feel dubstep was missing 2 years ago, but it isn't healthy to start putting these people and plynths and idolising them as some sort of untouchable demagogue. You need to always keep your mind open, encourage the development of music you like and if something isn't to your taste, either offer something constructive, and if you can't THEN you should stfu.

I agree

i agree totally with abs, the zomby album sounds pretty half arsed and i thought the skeng remix was absolutely terrible. this is a discussion forum and if someone starts a post someone has the right to express a different view. why slate someone just because they say something you dont agree with?
zomby album has nout to do with hyperdub
he he - of course - good point
i do love the zomby tunes on hyperdub, i love burial, joker, samiyam, some kode 9 and quite a few other bits on the label
in fact i think hyperdub is one of the best labels going at the minute
i was just trying to back up intocabilles point about encouraging discussion/criticism
however on second thoughts most of abs comments seem pretty ill informed and ignorant and contain a lot of generalisations so i can see why someone would accuse him of being boring. suppose there are better and worse ways of expressing your opinion and i guess its about how you express yourself, (myself included of course as im guilty of making throwaway remarks about tunes!) we have to be sensitive to the fact that the producers are around to hear our views because its not easy making music and criticism can be hurtful, especially if its thoughtless
respectful constructive criticism is always better than mindless slating

Don't agree, debating music is the most pointless thing you can do, it does no good. Everyones tastes are different so it just leads nowhere constructive, you end up just pissing people off who put a lot of time, passion, love and money into something very personal to them. If you don't like something I don't see why you can't keep t to yourself, Im not the biggest HPD fan but I dont go calling it 'shit' all over the internet.

Yeah this is not constructive
"Yeah it's got some classics, most of it is just boring shit though, so called 'deep' dubstep."
hence my earlier post

To the people havin' a go at abs, if someone doesn't like it then they don't like it, everyone has an opinion and the one put forward by abs was well put, not just negative and dismissive like some people

*yawn*
debating music is the most pointless thing you can do?
it's healthy to debate, if I have an opinion on something, and people are talking about it, and it's on a public discussion forum on the internet.. i'm gonna say something.
if producers don't want negative cirtisism, start a little mailing list to your biggest fans and only sell and play music to people on the list to avoid any negative comments being made.

I don't agree with all the guys opinions but thats complete bullshit. I see tonnes of threads bigging producers up, saying how sick tunes are etc etc, people on this forum buy the records/mp3s/cds etc and go to the nights, if someone wants to say he doesn't like something in a mature way whats the problem?
I'm sure the producers can handle it.

Fair point maybe I was too defensive but just calling something shit is not mature.

No, it just means they think it's shit.
Surley by your logic this thread immature because it's called 'HYPERDUB IS THE BEST'
