Brackles / Braiden / Oneman ???
i can't even put into words how big this mix is, got the mp3 a few years back and it literally left me speechless.spooKs wrote:+ I, err, did NOT know there was a Zed Bias remix of El-B - Serious. Ouuuch....
also on strength of his FACT mix, greena should get a mention in here; not so much on the long mix/blend thing that oney does so well, but blends across so many genres. there's already a thread, but seriously. he mixes out of dj assault by double dropping trim and wonder at one point.

thanks for the comments by the way. i am competely obsessive and ocd about the art of mixing if you will so its cool that it's appreciated. I've done b2b sets with both oneman and brackles and it always a lot of fun, they're both great djs and people.
ive just sweated my body out doing another 3 deck studio mix, its gonna be hosted by FACT magazine. its a deep one, lots of melodic blends, dubstep with 80s house, funky, techno, hip hop even some disco flavours in there. anyway its done ill send it over to FACT later and should be available soon

oh yeah and those EZ videos are sick. i think we'd all agree EZ mixes better than us
i also agree with what was said about mixing ability making it easier to introduce different styles; you can present otherwise ill fitting tracks in a new light by mixing it well. this is of interest to me

^going back to what you said, its also intresting to hear the styles people mix with, like see if you found mixing & that through techno, then its nice to hear those style blends, same with the choppiness of grime & the artwork of garage...big man, there needs to be like some 8 deck mix ting, every man holding 1 deck, that would be live...lol

This is why drum and bass used to run tings cah u had bare diff styles of music and then bare diff types of djs doing like a mix n blend style (kenny ken) a choppy mix style (hype or loxy) or the progressive deep mixing (randall/bukem) or all 3 in one set (scotty)- different journeysdeamonds wrote: intresting to hear the styles people mix with, like see if you found mixing & that through techno, then its nice to hear those style blends, same with the choppiness of grime & the artwork of garage...
for a good dj, a tune is just part of a deeper experience rather than letting the experience work around the tunes

for me it has to be oneman. first time i heard him dj live i was blown away, from then on hes been my favourite dj. brilliant selection, pretty much flawless mixing (heard sets where theres not a snare out of place!) and he was in a footlocker advert

braiden just tips it for me.. brackles an oney a very very close second.. in terms of selection they're all obviously next level but braiden is just that bit more eclectic imo..
the same goes for technique all of 'em are super tight but some of braidens mixes are just jaw dropping
also his studio mixes seem to be meticulously thought out..
but i haven't seen any of them ina club yet and thats the true test..
also ben ufo deserves to be included in this poll
