Didn't you have a go at stopping not long ago Deams?
yep, lasted a month, mainly because i went into hospital though...the 1st minute i came in contact with a spliff it was round my lips
I haven't been near direct temptation yet.. i'm definatly braking this for Exodus on friday though!

THinking maybe a cut down rather than a give up!

Its been two days since Ive decided to take a break and Ive been pacing around my flat and chain smoking cigs.

Cant ring up any mates to go chill, because of course they all smoke too.

Thanks for that.

Ive been an every day smoker for many years now, and Ive recently started cutting back. Still was smoking everyday, but not aaaaaaaall fuckin day. Actually Ive been doing a bunch of reading to take my mind off it. Im sure in a day or two it wont be an issue but I just felt like belly aching a bit tonight cuz Im WELL bored.

edit- oh and to add insult to injury, I actually have people starting a betting pool to see how long I last without smoking. With friends like that, who needs enemies?

the thing with anxiety / panic attacks is once you get into a routine of them, i.e everytime you smoke a spliff in the back of your mind your thinking "here comes the panic attack", thats what will cause you to panic, panicing about panicing. Its a vicious circle and one thats hard to break out of.

Panic / paranoia usually happens when your sitting around doing nothing and just alone with your thoughts, so my advice would be to cut down to only smoking when your active, i.e a night out / at a party etc.

Well, assuming that you smoke weed all the time rather than just once a week or something you're going to end up drinking every day. There's a danger that you'll end up a miserable alcoholic with no mates and a broken liver. Alcohol is much more addictive than weed and much more destructive to your personality. Not a top idea, all things considered.

If you really want to stop you'll stop (and panic attacks are as good a motivation as any). I want to stop smoking cigarettes but I don't actually want to if you know what I mean. It's a bit like wanting to get a job with better prospects but feeling quite cosy in the one you've already got because of all the associations that go with it. I know it's bad for my health but it doesn't feel like it is. If it was giving me panic attacks rather than just making my fingers smell it would be a lot easier.

so 1 week into giving up I start waking up in the middle of the night getting these hot and cold sweats - this goes on for a couple of days - im thinking "can't ever remember it being this full on giving up weed?"
.. a bit of internet investigation suggests that this is a symptom of giving up.
weekend comes along so i think fuck it ill go to DMZ
get pretty wasted on jd until kick out time in mass.
went to work on the tuesday and start getting these sweats again
...week later diagnosed with glandula fever and signed of work for a couple of weeks
who'd have thought it? chortle...
mentally feeling really sharp atm ..
weed smoking has finished good
cant wait until im fully recovered

I first gave up smoking skunk after years of usage 3 years ago, gave up weed almost 2 years ago and cigerettes 5 months ago.

I just wasnt feeling the buzz from green anymore, it made me feel 'achey' , lethargic and of course paranoid, i used to have deep dark thoughts, that just wasnt the way it was when i was a carefree teenager smoking with his friends, laughing so much you get jaw ache.

The reason i stopped smoking all together in janurary was a friend of my sister in law, who was 28, a year younger than me, 2 kids, pregnant wife, 20 a day, died within 6 weeks of being diagnosed with lung cancer.
Thats enough , im gonna give my body the best chance i can to let it recover.

I go thru periods of giving up and clearing out - mentally and physically. atm im 3 weeks off. so gona see how it goes.

Never bun mon-thurs or if i got early start, never before 3pm, and v rarely on my own or when im not doin anything active.

I have learned there is a massive difference in the way it affects you depending on the quality of draw and obviously the strength.

way i look at it, man wouldnt be drinking 5 shots of tequila in the morning or b4 bed so why smoke fuck off zoot in that way!?

it must be easier for people in Britain to quit smoking weed, it's so expensive.
