hate hearing sets that are banger after banger, and really hate that
one is kinda required to do this sorta thing at a prime time slot at
your standard dubstep night these days

heart is crying for the good ol days :( and good ol crowds that listened
with enough concentration/attention spam to appreciate good music

Exactly, nice to know some people actually reply nicely to a thread and not just give useless abuse and act like a toddler and put pictures of sausages up because they don't agree.

I DJ on a pirate station down here on the Isle of Wight and whenever I play classic dubstep tracks I get people shouting at me to play Borgore and Chase & Status

True that... Not to many creative shit out there... People tend to just copy their influence to the fullest. Even those "ni massive" basslines sounds the same, using the same patch and waveforms...

But there are also many producers pushing the genre foward...

The fact is that nowdays everyone who owns a computer and a decent pair of speakers can make tunes... and apparently are making them... :D:D

But what the heck, if everyone is enjoying the things they make, it's good!

:(

It seemed like things were going that way in London a year or two ago but now I can barely move for DJs who'll go from bumpy garage to tearout wobble to deep deep medi and back again... maybe your local heads will get with the p/g in six months?

Pretty much this.

Its easy to say "dont listen to it if you dont like it" etc. when it comes to the wobble stuff. And if I lived in London/Bristol or somewhere actually jumping I would probably agree with you. But for those who us who have to (aside from travelling) take what we can get when it comes to dubstep nights, I 9/10 find myself stuck at a night where the same beat with a slightly different sounding wobble can go off for 3 hours (with me dieing inside in the corner) before...for example, Pinch drops Mala - Eyez to a blank staring, slight head nodding crowd :( Sickening.

antisocial, all day for me at the moment.
banger after banger, but in a good way :)
it's not really about the wobbles or sth, it's about music that sounds fake and emotionless. and a lot of the dark-industrial-metal-wotever stuff does.

and of course the variation ! people need to learn that tearout tunes require some kind of build-up. it's the contrast that gives you the bassface.

its all about 2006, i miss it too... its still there though, I wouldnt even call a lot of the music that passes for dubstep at the moment really dubstep!

But to be honest there are loads of artists still making tunes that aren't classed as bangers (or rather they are bangers but in a different sense)

What you've got to remember is most people want to here the straight to the point stuff in a club, its more accessable and gets people going. The big dj's are always going to be playing the big tunes, if they can structure a set properly and keep things subtle thats always going to win out for me rather than a non-set full of tune tune tune tune tune tune....

i don't think this thread should be pointing fingers at 'aggressive dubstep' producers (i guess that's a suitable enough name). Producers can make whatever the hell they choose, and if they make a success of it, well good for them. Personally I like to make (and play) all sorts of stuff. I guess I just get bored easily...
If any fingers should be pointed it should be at society's obsession with instant gratification, media hype, and peer-group mentality.

Yeah I posted a picture of a sausage to try and keep it on track with the thread title.

Obviously you took this the wrong way.

This!

edit: we just should just be glad they don't start playing it at pitch +10 (it's happening here right now and this is utter rape)

I guess when I started listening to dubstep it changed my whole vision on music in general.. I was into d&b and jungle before that and loved some straight dancefloor bangers from time to time, whereas in dubstep I mostly dig vibes.. a standard wobble track just can't seem to make me dance anymore.. A Mala track however just puts a smile on my face, just that feeling of closing your eyes and enjoying all the different elements of the track :) That are the tunes I can't stop dancing to..
& yeah, I've noticed that in the progression of dubstep the emphacis is more on the wobbles/bangers now, which I def. don't see as a good evolution. On the others side, the "main" dubstep crowd digs those tunes and there's nothing much I can do right :) So I decided to just go to parties & when I don't dig the music I just go outside & have a laugh with some friends or something :) Because I realised that no matter how much I get frustrated, it's gonna change sh*t. However, people like headhunter/mala/pinch (who played the best dubstep sets I ever witnessed) can just make me smile again and make me get that "early dubstep" feeling all over again :)

nah course not mate, i mean, your using your main influence to create your own style, your making probabaly the heaviest tracks ive ever heard haha. most of the guys making these boring wobbles are influenced by other guys making wobbles, so influenced that they copy them completely

I wouldn't mind if they were better produced! Quality has got WORSE in past two years, too much has got a 8-16bit edge on it and it sounds crap
