Yeah the 'security' was wack. Joints in my pants for nothing...
Music highlights..
Asteroids vocal mix - swear it was about 7 minutes long. Fire.
Burnin' - the timing was impeccable.
Lean forward - always!
Ryan, that cider mate... Send me up a crate?

Took me about 3 minutes to notice he'd switched it up and I'd just carried on dancing. So much for worrying... should've trusted!

Re: System June 23rd
Can I be the first (and probably only) person to ask what tune Asteroids is? Anyone got audio? I'll probably recognize it when I hear it.
Totally agree with everyone on amit's set. Man is a maniac. I was reading today that the woman who does his vocals (rani) is also his wife, thought that was pretty cool.
I loved how when Drilla Killa was coming in, vivek was like "People you're not ready, you're not ready!". At the time I didn't really make anything of it but it kind of crept up on me... I remember thinking the vocal was sick, but it didn't hit me that it was building up to an absolute monster until the bass line started creeping in...
And yeah his first tune... Woow. Also... Not saying his dnb wasn't any good or anything, but considering that he's a dnb/drumstep man I thought his dubstep selection was amazing!

Then secondly, not trying to kick up a fuss, but I thought the second half of amit was totally whack. Bored the bajeezus out of me! Tune after tune of halfstep dnb with dull, monotone basslines. The whole halfstep dnb thing sounded like a gimmick, and to be totally honest it just doesnt work aswell as halfstep 140 or normal dnb if you ask me! Each to their own of course, but I ended up having a cool off outside for the end of amit (turned out it was only 1 tune though, as i heard vivek stepping up straight away lol)
The first half of amits set was BIG though. The first 2/3 tunes were absoloutely monstrous, then there was the problem with the rig cutting out and the fire lights coming on twice, and I just never managed to get into it. Not my cup of tea...meh
And @ Juan!
1) Asteroids vocal (was fucking amazing...)
2) Return II space (one of the heaviest tunes of the night, at a time when the rig was working about as well as it did at any point throughout)
3) Burnin'
I know none of them are particularly exciting but they were probably the champs for me!
Oh actually! Add Instra:mental - Vicodin. It sounded SO good!

Re: System June 23rd
I know what you mean wiggle, did get a bit uninterested with amit's set towards the end. I was just keen for Vivek to jump back in. I did smoke myself into a bit of a hole during amit's set so that could be why. DnB/drumstep is normally my thing anyway.
Was I the only one who was absolutely wanking for the dub at the beginning?

Re: System June 23rd
Just to balance all of that, I thought the halfstep DnB was the best bit.
Tbh, they could've played that all night and I would've been happy. I was on a strictly FUCK AMIT tip at that point.teamhobson wrote:Was I the only one who was absolutely wanking for the dub at the beginning?

Ohhhh fuck... I didn't know it was the other side of kismet... Thought that was out of reach? Unless that's just the order it plays in the mix it's sampled from...
Also... Did I hear a soundman VIP/remix? I think Amit played it quite early...
Was also quite surprised to hear some breakage in there (someone remix), fitted in very well though I think.

Re: System June 23rd
Big night just like the previous 2!
Gotta say I personally wasn't on form though. Had a bit of stomach pain for a good few hours of it, so wasn't feeling overly energetic (still didn't stop me going mental occasionally). That, and it was FOOCKIN' hot! (or was that just me?)
Would love to know some more too...there was one in particular I can't get out of my head!
I caught a decent bit of Amit's set before my stomach went funny...(cue trip to nearest takeaway)...seemed nice. Maybe not 100% my thing, but still great.
Vivek was as always brilliant though. Highlights were Poison Dart
, Burnin' and...
(Nice one whoever's the video is). Against The Tide is one of my favourite tracks right now!
Ended up leaving a little early (gutted I missed the phonecall, Cuban material and Bob's Pillow) as me and girlfriend were knackered.
Out to all the ninjas and others who attended. Nice to meet (however briefly / awkwardly) Riddles, PinUp (stay away from my girlfriend
). Also got expertly trolled by drunken Wub when I tried to introduce myself
. Nice to see wiggle baron, kay and T_! again.
All ninjas seem like sound people. Recognised loads around the stack, but just feel best to leave the awkwardness of introducing myself out of the way.

Yeah, I remember expecting a proper punch when 50,000 Watts dropped and then feeling as it something wasn't quite right as it did. I've only heard it once before on an ok system, but it was definitely not 100% there on Saturday.the wiggle baron wrote:You can tell if someone was there straight away! You just know![]()
