Yeah, pretty close, you need good context to make it sound go though.

More phase, distortion, and maybe a bit of WOW filter to make it sound vowely. also needs automate for movement

The one i'm looking for has a really crunchy/clean vibe to it, I can insert a WOW filter but adding more distortion might muck it up, unless theres something I'm missing in terms of guaranteeing clean distortion

You said KOAN Sound, culprate, and Reso:

The three prime producers who inspired me to even start producing haha. That reesey crunch is also the sound I am also aiming to achieve. :)

And I find that using a little wow filter like I said works well for me. To keep the clean distortion just use very little overdrive and bring down the dry/wet to like 3 oclock

Alright guys, I usually don't put my stuff up here asking for feedback however I'm fed up with the intro of this tune and I'm struggling to get that right emotion. I could REALLY use some honest onions/feedback if I should just scrap the whole tune and move on or any good ideas for the intro before the drop. And yes I love criticism so have at it.

Soundcloud

I think it's pretty clear where I want to head with this tune. Also if anything else sounds too low or doesn't come through clearly on your guys end let me know.

This is not pre-mastered (As it's still in the production side) and of course I took the limiter off so turn up your sound systems to hear.

@Mrfnk. I like your general sounds going on but I feel like that backing synth in the very beginning needs some help that dub sounding one isn't "Dubby" enough felt it's missing power, maybe cause it's not mastered yet, try turning it up just a decible.. Actually your tune kind of reminds me of some things I've heard on UK dubstep but I can't remember which artist. pretty good sounding though. You're really coming along far though man from when I first heard ya stuff ages ago.

@justanotherdj. I do like your starting intro and overall sounds used through out. It's catchy and you have the reverb spot on with the voice. the listen does match. The tune itself has a good feel. The percussion could use some more hi's and lows though (You know blocks and what not) try to learn about emotional builds. the drops real nice at 3:09 maybe that should come in a bit earlier on the change. Also play around with the voice a bit more. have it drop out at points/come in at certain points as to make it feel less like a loops. other than that it's a good idea just keep picking at it.

@ac the sound got me right away in the beginning as it's definately got that nice crackling sound about it. Very very deep and lots of space in it. The bass is right on par. Vocals do sound a little happy though as said. "Oh her eyes" needs a slight detune or something. tracks interesting through out and you have a good beat going.

@Alex I'm a house fan too with certain type of house music. not really sure if you're on the deeper side of house or on the more upbeat side of house. try for interesting sounds through out if you use vocals like adele. get it really interesting with dynamics outside of your "main bulk" of the song. This songs nice to drone out to and just hear. The drop itself is good. most things seem pretty well mixed. I guess the biggest advice I can give on this one is that you should always mix around vocals if that's the main element of the song (Since this has a lot of words and what not I'm assuming it's your main element), meaning that vocals should be the most "Powerful." and not be overwhelming but "Stand out from the rest." maybe raise that by a decible or two.

Hi mate, you need to leave feedback for 3 tracks before anyone will give you feedback.

Sorry if you've given feedback and I've missed it.

@Alexandercunningham
That's pretty good. A few things can still be changed though.
Pluck doesn't sit well with vocals, i think lowering the volume might help. Overall a little bit more eq on pads and stuff would help. There is a pause at 2:17, sounds odd.
Structure is ok but the tune is sooo repetitive, that uu-uuu and pluck are gonna haunt me for a while now :D. Snare is kinda weak imo.
@mthrfnk
Intro is nice, build is fine too, pre drop drums need more clarity.
The drop needs more work, it doesn't have power and groove yet and is too chaotic. Sounds itself are ok.
@justanotherdj
Percussion is too dry and loud. Snare sounds good, maybe lower the volume. Glitching intro synth sounds a bit too plasticy. Pads are fine.
There is no real development in this track, stuff just happens one part after another.

A short clip from my track in my sig. Kinda mastered. I want feedback on sound. I was thinking about proper mastering, please give opinions if i need one on that track.

@ficticious

Liked the intro, chords/pads and vocal sample work week, created nice atmosphere.
I liked the bouncy drum pattern, not sure if I was keen on the drums samples used, I mean they sound ok but I thought as the drum pattern was quite different and experimental, some different sounding drums woolf be cool.
The drawn out baseline was ok, but perhaps automate it now and then or use a slightly different bass to keep it interesting?
Overall I thought the track was cool though, I'd listen to it again.

@Kongret: Sounds beefy as fuck. When that first melody comes in, maybe make it less complex, it conflicts with the bass too much IMO. Sometimes the subtle melodies are the best ones

@pdomino: For the first track: Not really my style...hard to comment on. If it were me, I'd add a bigger change up in there somewhere. You have different sections but they progress in the same way. The sections you have are quite catchy though. Nice job on that. Mixdown is good as well.

@ficticious: the vocals sound good, so does the piano. I, personally, was not a fan of the drums, slightly too sporadic for my taste. That might be what you were going for though. Your progression of the overall song is somewhat simple IMO. Try adding more breakdowns with different sounds to give it some variation. That's my personal taste though. I wouldn't scrap it, the vocals and the piano sound good.

Need some advice on this one:

Scy7he - I think I may have met you before if i'm not mistaken. Are you from stl? Anyways as far as the song goes, the bassline is pretty catchy, the main tip I could give is to try to compress your kick and snare to make them sit a little higher over the bassline, as they seem to get kinda lost when your bassline comes in. I especially like the bass sounds you chose on this one.

D-ROD - This song really surprised me because it sounds so metal, yet still keeps all the electronic elements i like. There is a breakdown around 1:47 that sounds really cool. As for the rest of the guitar/synth bassline, maybe try beefing up the lows a little or even layering a bassline that has more low end underneath the guitar sounding line. Overall the mixing sounds pretty good. Nice job

Kongret - You're song sounds great. Its pretty unique and I am amazed by the way you arrange everything. Structuring was perfect and everything sounded mixed to high standards, the song kinda reminded me of pendulum meets savant or something. Overall if you did the mastering it sounds good the way it is, but it never hurts to get a second ear and listen to someone elses results. Very great work on this tune!

Anyways here is the newest track i've been working on. Tried a more menacing sound this time around and i'm greatly pleased with the progress.
