tip remix > the og > the tnght remix

seriously i dont understand the love for the tnght shit (or most "trap" for that matter), those tracks sound worse than your typical gucci mane beat.

Now while I agree with some of the random shit you say that's just retarded. Especially as TNGHT aren't really trap.

well i agree with pkay that what all you great shitstain people consider as "trap" is just southern style hip hop beats that have been around for ages. and tnght fits right in.

Not really because TNGHT doesn't quite sound like southern style hip hop

the fresh prince is hip hop.

you dont see the reasoning behind using a word to differentiate between the fresh prince and TNGHT?

TNGHT are not trap, they even said themselves that they aren't. They produce beats that are in line with the more electronic fuelled beats coming out (like Mercy for example) these days which are hugely popular. They just so happen to make beats that are minimal (moreso than most "trap" beats) but are full of so much more energy.

This argument is already drowning in idiocy

Uhhh you ever heard a guchi tape? Drumma boys drums are very big influence on trap

And the horns artists like tnght are using in mass are straight out of slip n slide from the late 90's. Same vibe with drumma and dds beats.

Yeah I have I'm just saying compared to other stuff about that the moment it doesn't sound like a straight copy of the style. It's obviously got a lot of that in it but it's got so many other bits of hip hop and other genres in it that I don't think you can claim they are the main culprates for ripping stuff off...

Not at all.. I think it's a new sound of an already established sub genre.

Repackaging it is a bit disengenious and a result of internet blog culture. Gotta catch the new wave so you aren't lost in the ocean right?

Funny thing is 2 years from now when the term trap goes the way of chillwave and witchouse the left over artists who rose to the top will likely be making beats for southern rappers

Yeah that could happen.

What I'm personally hoping for is that the millions of internet clones fade away a bit, the guys doing something creative stay going and more general popular music is affected by it. I'd love to have a time when big bassy hip hop influenced pop got popular over here again. I miss the Timbaland and Neptunes heavy days. Everything is too flat and trying to be all dance music-ish cause that's what's cool at the moment.

The ones who will survive are the ones who were around prior (floss, Hudson, etc)

Never mind.the fact that the beats came from.southern drumlines

Being from the south its akin to someone calling dubstep.dub. the term trap is just dumb

Respect the source or accept the criticism

Yeah I didn't say that they weren't influenced by that . I was saying that they aren't influenced just by just what everyone is calling trap now (those tunes are different to the popular trap stuff anyway I think). They themselves have said they're not trap they just make "rap bangers" or something. That's all I meant that plonking them in with everyone aping lex luger wasn't fair when there's a whole tradition of bass heavy hip hop out there that you can hear in TNGHTs sound along with some other new ideas

It shares a lot of similarities with blip hop. People wanted to make it its own genre and producers squashed it quick and hip hop and blip hop went hand in hand handmade some fantastic albums
