Re: Working Out....
Well, let's take creatine for example. It's scientifically proven to aide getting energy into your muscles, you also get it from meat, but not in sufficient quantities where it has that effect on your body. If I wasn't going to the gym, I wouldn't take it. But since I am, and have a lifestyle that would benefit from using it, I'll take it. No amount of diet or vitamins can aide with that. And they're not supposed to replace a diet or food, they're supposed to fill a hole that those things can't fill. If you care about production and want to hear what you're doing more clearly, you upgrade from Rokits to Adams. If you're passionate about going to the gym and your energy transfer in your muscles isn't all it can be, you upgrade that.Electric_Head wrote:Gene - I'm not discrediting what you take. I am just interested in the benefits of these additions over just living a healthy life and supplementing with vitamins.
Do you feel the benefits are measurable to the extent that you feel it is essential to your diet?
Casein and whey are just foodsources, they're meals or ingredients. They're not supplements. Saying "you don't need protein shakes, you can eat chicken" would be no different than saying "you don't need chicken, you can have protein shakes".

I don't take them, but there's conflicting evidence on whether they help or not.DRTY wrote:Oi ^ u guys, don't take vitamins. You don't need them(unless you exclusively eat cardboard)

Man couldn't survive *without mulltie vytamins. It's bullshit... chem up cheap food and give it back in an expensive pill.

Re: Working Out....
I sometimes have dolemite (magnesium, calcium and 70s blaxploitation movies) and each pill equates to about 45% of my rda of those things.DRTY wrote:well most of em have about 10x your gda in one pill dont theythat's actually harmful

Re: Working Out....
ladies
i've been on this diet..i used it to lose weight since i just birthed a 9 pound/4 kg baby a few months ago..
Day 1- nothing but fruit and as much cabbage soup as you’d like
Day 2- nothing but vegetables and cabbage soup
Day 3- fruits AND veggies (including cabbage soup)
Day 4- only bananas and milk/yogurt. the shittiest day
Day 5- only tomatoes (6-8) and protein like fish, turkey and chicken
Day 6- protein and veggies
Day 7- fruits, vegetables, and juices
and i usually take walks with the pram 10 to 40 min or whatever, depends on what i'm doing
4 months later and i can wear my booty shorts again

Re: Working Out....
Supplement intake:
Morning: Multi, Omega 3, Magnesium, CoQ10, Ginseng, Ginkgo Biloba
Evening: Magnesium, 5htp (Sunday - Thursday only)
Training days I take creatine before hitting the gym and will have a black coffee as well if I'm tired.
Currently diet is 45% carbs, 35% protein, 20% fat (no more than a third of which is sat fat). I follow IIFYM so switch meals up quite a bit but generally have proatmeal and a banana / blueberries for breakfast. Many recommend a 40:40:20 split for carbs, protein and fats but I don't find this very practical.
I lol @ people who claim to live healthily and don't take a multi + fish oil every day.

No, vitamin pills generally have 100% or less of your RDA for any given vitamin. The majority are not harmful if you have too much (just comes out in your piss).DRTY wrote:well most of em have about 10x your gda in one pill dont theythat's actually harmful

Re: Working Out....
You don't need fish-oil if you get your omegas daily elsewhere. I put flaxseed oil in my shakes.

Yeah true, I should've phrased it better! I don't think most people get enough omegas elsewhere though (myself included)Genevieve wrote:You don't need fish-oil if you get your omegas daily elsewhere. I put flaxseed oil in my shakes.
