i was using reason but i just got logic about a week ago. i love logic so far. i still plan to use reason but more for sounds and what not. ill put everything together and use logics fx.

i love reason but its very tedious to do certain things in and have long fx chains and i wasn't keen on the eq.

with logic it makes busses and fx and eqing a breeze.

im glad i have them both though.

Just a tip, in the logic EQ, turn the analyser on and set it to high (it gives very good visual feedback and is v light on cpu

yeah iv already been using those functions part of the reason why i much prefer logics eq over reasons. I'm not the best at solely using my ears yet so i do like to have some visual representation.

btw i just got a new macbook pro and nothing seems to touch it for cpu use. 15" hi res antiglare screen, 2.4 i7 quad core, 8gb of ram, 128gb ssd, 640gb 7200rpm hdd in optical bay, 6670m 1gb vram. she's a screamer.

id be interested because i plan to build one once having a desktop is practical.

I just don't see how it's as simple as FL... guess it's a taste thing. In FL I can get in and immediately start a track, it's so fast. Though in ableton the presets sound alot better I find and when I've finished a track it just sounds more.... polished.. I guess.

I always hear that FL is what people start on to learn the basics, which annoys me because I'm a bit of a snob and I'd rather learn a more 'advanced' program if that's what my favourite producers are using.

I just know that I can't keep switching between them!

go with logic then and solve all your problems. its polished, advanced, snobby, and 64 bit

In fact, some people advocate working with multiple programs as the various workflow differences promote different ways of thinking about how to create music leading to a wider variety of creative results.

Stick with your favourite couple of apps, and eventually if you really prefer one over the other, then focus on that one. (which will likely be Reaper cuz it's teh bestest!)

The fact that a sequencer channel can take midi or audio or act as a bus/folder track is priceless. Saves so much headaches just being able to load up a synth or effect onto a sequencer channel or to drag & drop midi or audio files directly onto the sequencer...!

Reaper also has drag and drop routing, which means that users can create effects sends or buses very easily too.

I don't work for either. I simply value (highly) the software each company makes on the basis that it does what I want it to do and further that each company listens to their users feedback and responds often favourably.

That's in stark contrast to the other app vendors who mainly seem to be pushing closed solutions, often requiring hardware tie ins too (Logic-Mac, ProTools/soundcards, Cubase/iLok etc). Although I rate Reason highly for creative purposes, I don't like the way Propellerheads develop/release their software. To me they only budge on an issue when there is overwhelming outcry which is too negative for my liking.

Image Line are good, and FL Studio is good too. Yet FL Studio to me is to fiddly to use compared to Reaper!

Before Reaper came into my consiousness I'd have told you to grab Reason or Cool Edit/Adobe Audition btw.

im a very visual person and reason just seems to work, i like the long fx's, just makes all the routing and stuff fun

lil tip for some peeps, hit the letter L on your keyboard (Reason 4, i beleive it may have changed to K now in future versions) to make the cords go away, then when you hover over the inputs/ooutputs they will tell where they are connected. this basically makes it the same as any other daw...you use a menu to choose where things will be connected.
