Is there anyway to turn the volume of the sample browers thingy down?

if you mean the volume when you preview a sample in the browser then all you need to do is turn down the headphone volume which is by the master fader.

Do the built in tutorials, watch some youtube, and RTFM. It will take a few weeks to get your head around it - it's so much more simple and intuitive than anything else. Once it clicks, you will never go back.

Can someone tell me how to link midi (over usb) any parameters of NATIVE ableton anything. For instance, how do i link a knob on my m-audio oxygen-8 controller to a the frequency selector on an auto-filter (just an example) as I have read up on it and tried it and i think its the fact that its not true midi, but midi over usb that's fucking me up. any help is appreciated...

I have an M-Audio Axiom and just had a similar problem tonight. Go into the midi preferences and make sure remote control is enabled for the Oxygen. I had tracking enabled but not remote which allowed me to use the keyboard but none of the knobs or sliders would work. As soon as I enabled remote everything worked the way it should.

if in doubt switch them all on across the board and then switch off one by one to see what makes a difference.

It's pretty weird that whenever I add an EQ8 with highpass filter on my kick the volume of the channel increases. It should decrease since I am taking out some low-end frequencies. I bet it's happening with different types of filters too. what the hell
Same thing with simpler's built-in filters.

any solution please?

Got it. Thanks guys. It was the remote button on the Oxygen8V2 Input that did it. Always a ton of help to be found on this site. Much love ya'll

Tips for playing live in LIVE

Playing live is my goal for the future so with that said id really appreciate any tips or tricks to achive this. Suppose ill start by sharing what im trying at the moment to help make my live music better. GATES...i use these in my live set up with say 3-4 audio channels then side chained to my drum rack gets some nice shit going...a gud tip is to keep an unsidechained kick and snare aswell as sidechained 1's so it doesnt get too repetitive...aswell as varying the settings of the gate for each audio channel. DUMMY CLIPS...i route my synths through dummy clips (even tho this may seem obvious didnt think about it till recently) for a nice slow progressions of a certain parameter to add subtle change but its obv not something that i have mapped to my midi key board because its not practical or watever the case may be...i kinda use my midi mapped knobs for flare style things so the audience can see it. FEEDBACK LOOPS...self explanatory (but if you wanna know how to set it up shout). One of my main problems is with getting the loops recorded...ableton have alot of work to do with the looper and if any1 cud suggest an alternative thats worth tryin that wud b gr8. Aswell as this having trouble with the placement of my looper because i want to get the treated audio from my send but i dont really wanna have a looper on the master channel? Im not using midi effects at all at the moment either if any1 has any resources to offer or tips im all ears!!

it could be the particular frequency where you're putting the filter, try it with another filter/eq that isn't ableton and see if the problem is replicated.

Trying to come up with some bass in Ableton and this is the best I have come up with...sorry for such a short clip, how can I make this bass sound deeper? It's just an operator with auto filter. Also when it wobbles and changes to a new note, it doesn't flow smoothly, the attack is real sudden. Any tips?

Wow, that clip really is short! For a second I thought there was something wrong with my soundcard haha.

I can't really tell what's going on from that clip but I would say maybe you should try playing it in a lower octave and see how that sounds.
Also, if you are new to synthesis Operator might be a little tricky to learn on. If you have the suite you might try messing around with Analog and see if it's a little easier. Try out some of the bass presets and play around with the different parameters to see what does what.

Quick couple questions guys... How do I freeze and flatten, or resample/bounce a track that has a sidechain on it? For example, I have a sub bass that is slightly sidechain compressed with the kick bus as the sidechain input source. It won't let me freeze a track that's sidechained and if i resample, then I would normally solo the midi track, and hit record on the resample audio track. But this is gonna negate the sidechain as then its not receiving audio from the kicks to tell it to duck!!! Fuckin 'ell, I'm stumped.
