I was going to mention this. Think its a bit of a kick in the teeth to those who dont care for collecting vinyluntightled wrote:A good point.clifford_- wrote:my only quibble is they only release on vinyl, but only play out digital themselves...

Re: Swamp 81 thread
As can I. I was also brought up in the digital age - still got a soft spot for vinyls though. As with so many things, it all comes down to personal preferences etc etc.Durag wrote:Yeah i agree but a lot of younger people (early to mid teens for example) were brought up on digital music so they mightened like the idea of shelling out lots of money for vinly when they can get the same music for half the price on download or download it illegally.untightled wrote:You can get turntables for what, 100 pounds? Probably even less. It's not that big of an investment, and vinyls aren't the most expensive products in the world either. I don't see what holds people up to buy a simple deck. It's the label's choice how they want to release their music anyway.
I personally like vinyl only releases, but i can see a lot of people who dont.

I was raised with vinyl because my dad was a radio DJ back in the day and it's influenced me to collect vinyl. But some of friends cannot comprehend the idea of paying not just for vinyl but for music. They tell me 'Why don't you get it off Youtube converter?'. I actually had someone come up to me at a party and ask what I was holding when I was putting a record on the decks.
Anyway, bit off topic there. Swims was an insta-bag. Considering getting the Zed Bias EP. Not sure, though.

swamp81 oozes quality, design, manufacturing, curation, music - it feels special to buy swamp vinyl, its a total product, all of which can not be felt sat in some fucking folder in your computer.
someone has to do vinyl only releases, just to keep the magic alive at least, and Im glad swamp81 do it as they have a massive influence.

Couldn't agree more. Feels excessively special to buy and own a Swamp 81 vinyl. Only tune I'm not feeling is Reminisce About The Phuture. It's either that or the last 2 Medi releases....untightled wrote:

Re: Swamp 81 thread
Agreed, but this release is more than worth getting because of the other three tracks. Basic Needs (and evidently) Music Deep Inside are nuts on the 12".tatty_b_jangles wrote:Only tune I'm not feeling is Reminisce About The Phuture. It's either that or the last 2 Medi releases....untightled wrote:

Do. Music Deep inside is probably the best Swamp tune going, and the other tracks are all great as well. Bagged swims, The latest Pinch release, Funkbias's release and the Boddika E.P. I am incapable of just buying 1 vinyl.

I don't think the digital release of a 12" detracts from a vinyl release in anyway.murky21 wrote:swamp81 oozes quality, design, manufacturing, curation, music - it feels special to buy swamp vinyl, its a total product, all of which can not be felt sat in some fucking folder in your computer.

I happily buy the vinyl and the 320 of many labels.

Re: Swamp 81 thread
I've gotta say, I'm personally glad that Swamp is vinyl only, 'cos I only buy vinyl.
But to run a vinyl only label and DJ using serato/whatever they're using is weak. If the "vinyl-only" label heads aren't playing vinyl, then who is!?

Re: Swamp 81 thread
^ to be fair, thats cos we can buy the vinyl for 6 or 7 quid.... at the time they are playing em, there are no pressings so to spend £20 or 30 quid on a dubplate, when you could do it for free, thats kinda fair enough. Would be better if they did, I know people like pinch still rep it, but i guess its just not relatively affordable anymore

£20/30 for dubplate + Extra baggage costs when flyign international, only for the dub to get mashed up by a crap needle in a dodgy bar in an obscure city.
I don't turn on Korn to get it on, I be playin Digi Mystikz 'til the dawn
Re: Swamp 81 thread
Yeah, fair enough. I understand why they're not playing vinyl. But to play all your tunes digitally and then not release them digitally so others can do the same because your "keeping vinyl alive" just seems really pretentious.
I love vinyl and respect to all labels releasing vinyl, but you can't have it both ways is what I'm saying.

Re: Swamp 81 thread
i only said it was a quibble, it doesnt matter that much to me, im still gonna buy the vinyl, but it would be nice to have a 320 so i dont have to lug about a bag full of vinyl just for them to get mashed up by a dodgy needle in an obscure club.
and if im playing somewhere that doesnt have any technics, it means i dont get to play some of my favourite tunes. ie most of the swamp81 bits..

Re: Swamp 81 thread
I guess it shows they are technically more for the music than the money though? Think how many people will boycott or D/L dodgy rips because they can't be arsed to shell out £7 for 2 tunes?
Also i think that labels such as Swamp need to realise the majority of people who own turntables DJ (be it just as a hobby or professionally). Making their market really only those who DJ? There must be a significant minority who own turntables just to listen to tunes especially in this day and age. I have always thought how many people on here must have a number of say dmz tracks ripped onto their iPods?
