wtf is wrong with using a word to describe a very specific style of hip hop? everybody knows it's hiphop, but the term hip hop is broad as fuck, trap narrows it down so people know exactly what youre talking about.

Because its not new or specific. Its the same southern hip hop of the last decade repackaged for kids in skinny jeans and glasses without perscriptions

Again, that's Walt's original motivation, not Heisenberg's. Heisenberg wants to be perfect dad because it's good for his ego. I'm sure he's still got love for his kids, but it's a different type of love than it used to be.

All I'm saying is that people who say Walt is not abusive don't know from abusive personalities. I'm not defending Skyler - I agree that she was written to be annoying, abrasive, etc especially in seasons 1 and 2. She also has blood on her hands. But the justifications people make for hating her are more often than not rooted in misogyny rather than her as a person.

I think what tornado's implying is that sticking up for an abusive husband against a woman who's unwilling to let her family go down with him is rooted in misogyny.
Skylar isn't being abusive.. she's made mistakes, but she loves her kids. Walt doesn't care about anything but his ego. His kids are merely tools he uses to manipulate Skylar to FEED his ego.

I found the.shield as dark for cops as the wire was for the inner city

all the main characters are morally ambiguous, at any one point they do stuff which you hate and which you love, you root for them to succeed and you root for them to fall

thats the beauty of the writing, in this case for entertainment purposes

skylar can be fucking annoying but so can Walt when he starts rambling and blithering away, so can jesse, so can Walt Jr.

in fact the only character who's really stood up recently has been Hank, and he's been a top tnuc in the past.
