Example Magazine has been watchin this thread for days now. and has decided its finally time to post on it. On Saturday one of our photographers was at CHIUBUKU's 9th BIRTHDAY @ NATION in Liverpool. Present at what is apparently the first time the Snoop dogg millionare track was played in a club. And contrary to what everyone on here would expect the whole club literaly erupted the room went mad and the tune was reloaded. Is Dubstep forum maybe a seperate scene of its own which is completely detached from whats actually happening in the clubs

Chibuku birthday is not an accurate representation of the nights that people on this forum...people who actually "like" dubstep go to. The crowd that supposedly "went mad" were nowhere to be seen when kode 9 was on. The room would probably errupt if you played this at mood, or garlands or whatever. It's more the case that this tune is detached from the dubstep scene.
From where I was standing everyone was either too fucked to dance, covering their ears or waiting til that "sick toooon with plan b comes on" anyway.
So to say that dubstep forum is detached from the clubs is ridiculous...I can't imagine if this is played at Pace Yourself on Thursday you'd get the same reaction.
Probably my first and last ever post...just know that people in Liverpool aren't all plebs.
????
They all paid their money and they all came to see those acts that were on and they all knew the tunes. Kode 9 played a boring set in a pitch black room no wonder people werent dancing. Our photographer will be at ape in manchester this friday and chase and status are playing again. I gurantee they will play the snoop dogg tune and i gurantee it will go off. If you think that the reaction of people to dubstep is unimportant then youre the exact sort of person who will bring dubstep to its knees not chase and status who if anything are actually bringing more money into dubstep. Which cant do it any harm.

i had to get in this thread for a minute, i can't really stand it... i'm with human? on this one. let shit breathe, quit being such a turd about who can do what and who can't. let em enjoy it like we do. if you don't like/approve of a track don't support it, don't play it.
the best point human? made that i seen was that the scene (edm as a whole) isn't so underground, there's plenty of mcs passing through the everyday. i'd get used to it.
take into account the fact that many mcs don't get into dnb cause it's too fast, and they don't get into house/techno cause it's too slow or not the right rhythm for them. add some dubstep to the picture then what? get a clue guys. mcs love the shit.
i'll admit the hook is the weakest thing i've heard in soooo long, and it could have been approached more consciously according to dubstep, and lyrical music in general, imo. but that happens in music on a daily basis.
dubsteppers, have confidence in your pioneers and true heads.
i love seeing these threads, is this the end of dubstep!?!?
omg, what a crisis. tbh, i've never seen such ignorance.

Okay if a room went mental over snoop dogg millionaire it has no reflection on the quality of the track. It has far more to do with the fact that they are at a dubstep night and someone is playing snoop dogg. The idea of the combination made the room go nuts, not the actual track.
If you are saying kode9 was boring then you need to go back to popstepforum.com or whereever you came from. Oh and APE at manchester is going to be full of students who are just going for a laugh and a good night out. Chase and Status bring the party and therefore will obviously go down well. The snoop track will work again, but it would be the same reaction if they just mixed 'nuthing but a g thang' into their mix.
And can we all remember snoop hasnt actually produced any dub...just a freestyle effectively. Which is standard in the rap game.

Gutter Lines, Breaks and Hype
I don't think anyone begrudges dubstep producers making a living. But its a slightly different thing when music is compromised for commercial reasons.SILKIE wrote:the only thing that can kill dubstep is people stop listening to it because snoop dogg raps over it lol. would everyone would be happy if we still all played to ten people. maybe good for u but if u want good music the artist has to 100% into there music and that means maybe getting paid. or we can die pennyless and be remembered centuries after for our craft like van gogh.
final thought
if nothing changed in music we would be listening to monks and drums, maybe a new gerne.
Snoops flying off the back of Slumdog Millionaire's success is a bit lame imo. Singh is King anyone?
(ps: Tell me rmx is HUGE)
