Adapted from a book, not an original idea.

Nightmare Before Christmas is quality, but again monstrous-character-discovers-meaning-of-Christmas is hardly pushing the boundaries.

Not suggesting for one second that I don't enjoy watching Tim Burton films (Planet Of The Apes aside)

I'd say 'Ed Wood' is Burton's best work.

I really liked Sweeney Todd

The Batmans were both quality, as was Corpse Bride.

Saw The Expendables 2 in a refreshed state about 10 days ago dubbed into Mandarin, cos of everyone cracking up
and shouting at the screen, and the bits my mates translated made me think it was played for laughs.

Took some colleagues to see it in English after bigging it up

The batmans were good apart from Michael Keaton. I've got nothing against him but he just isn't batman

Think it's a toss up between that and Hamburger Hill.

Apocalypse Now people. Buying it later this week. Should I go ahead and watch the extended/directors cut or just stick with Theatrical first? Any opinions?

Extended cut all the way.
The time he spends with the family is pretty important to the story imo.

I prefer redux (the extended cut) but I'd recommend watching the theatrical cut first. I watched redux first and it made the theatrical cut feel a bit choppy. watch them so that one adds to the other rather than one takes away from the other.
