Think it's time to stop lurking and say hi.

I ran into dubstep 2 months ago on the party bus outside Mighty (SF locals might know it ;)). It blew me away, and, much like many of you, now I can't get enough.

About me: Live in the Bay Area, grew up in NY. Male. Work for a living, party for fun. Like science fiction, octopi and heavy bass.

Cheers,

-Artem

Not sure if i posted in here.

Hi Dubstepforum my name is Daniel Im from Southend in Essex, used to listen to a lot grime up until about 2 years ago when it just didn't do anything for me anymore. then i heard some Dubstep beats through my pal DJ Militant.

I've always been a fan of some *grimey* music Dubstep was right up my alley lol and been going to Wobble here in southend every month since it launched in april(i think) also went To the first Dubstep breakfast a month or so back, went to Aeonsounds 6(i think) as well but that was *cough*locked off*cough* :D a great expirience, looking forward to the next one.

Since then i've been listenen mostly to jump up Dubstep and some roots as a warm in clubs.

Off to Canterbury Uni in one weeks time and hoping theres some Dubstep events around there soon.

That's it i guess.

Post by kuntkrusherr » Sun Sep 14, 2008 3:26 pm

Sup.. I'm a newcomer... Obviously a dubstep addict. Living in Copenhagen, and if anyone ever hears of any dubstep events going on here please message me. I have rarely seen any live shows, except for Roskilde 2008 where I saw Skream, Benga, & Magnetic Man. It was quite an experience. So if anyone knews anything about any upcoming shows I would be eternally grateful for a heads up.

Cheers!

Not sure if I've already done an intro, but a good enough excuse to bump up my post-count...

Been into Dubstep for 2 or 3 years, but found it difficult at first to locate the sounds I like, but lately the scene seems to be diversifying a lot, which makes it easier for me to avoid the wobble-core and get the good sh*t.

First Dubstep purchase*: Burial EP with Southern Comfort. Listened to it a few times, put it away in the crates, didn't really 'get' it until Burial started getting lots of media attention and I thought "hang on, haven't I got a record by him?". Pulled it out, re-appreciated and re-evaluated. It's very good, but now I know lots of stuff out there I like a lot more.

Latest Dubstep purchase: Couple of things on Apple Pips and Murderation/Trample by ~*#%+@#~ some bloke.

* I would argue that because of the very broad range of styles Dubstep encompasses, I think there are probably some producers out there who don't even think of themselves as Dubstep, and some tunes from the past that sound very, very Dubstep, so maybe I've been listening to Dubstep since '96. I dunno.
