were the views coupled with an increase in impressions?
Two of them were twitter references, but I can't seem to find any reference to Night Tracks on twitter.
And no, they just appear to be views. I checked a couple of the sites quickly, and again, there appeared to be no reference to the blog. Strange.

Why would they send your blog traffic though? Weird. Did you sign up for any traffic exchange sites or something?

Maybe to search for backlinks to their content that some other bot they own "might have" put there, so they can redirect them to an indexer? Who knows.

can someone please tell me where to look to see what people are searching to end up on your blog? I'm not sure how to word it in a search to find out.

Stats > Traffic Sources > Search Keywords?
Be prepared to see numerous references to Mediafire and Rapidshare.

thanks! don't know why I didn't notice that before
and you were spot on, the vast majority of them had mediafire / FLAC / rapidshare attached to them.. maybe I should start adding mediafire and rapidshare into the keywords even though I don't link to either one

Big up those looking for a mediafire download of Burial & Massive Attack, pushed a whole lot of visitors to Night Tracks.

So just a tip for the active folk: look into the writer communities. They have lots of megablogs. There are tons and tons of active commenters to be found... lots of bored middle aged ladies (read: no adblock) who will give you lots of impressions/comments, regardless of how off-topic from their daily norm your blog is. You have to make the initial effort though (natch), but after you accrue a fair amount it really adds up.
a couple to start sinking your teeth into:
http://magpietales.blogspot.com/
http://www.waystationone.com
just keep following all the leads you see and it turns into a whole ocean of folks.

Also some are MILFs (or Milves) and that is always a bonus.

oh and a note for you garethom:
I saw you wondering about twitter. I don't do this but I see there are a lot of people who semi-abuse the unspoken "follow for follow rule" on twitter.
they will follow 124,576 people and in turn will have like 117,937 followers. It's spammy but an easy way to get an army of eyeballs.

Yeah, I'm trying to set one up now, but twitter seems to be doing it's hardest to stop me by crashing every few seconds.
