I first ran into Dubstep late 2004. A friend called my attention to a Rephlex record compilation called "Grime".

At that time there was no common name to describe the sound, a lot of names were out there. As a matter of fact Rephlex chose Grime for what today is Dubstep, so don't get confused.
Anyway, I was instantly thrilled. This was what I waited for and after hearing early productions by DMZ, Kode 9 and Horsepower Prod.,too , my sensation grew even more. Finally there was a sound that incorporated UK garage’s clipped beats, techno’s futurism, jungle’s skanking half-time rhythms and the sheer bass weight of dub reggae.
Massive! Nice to think about that time.
