Re: dubstep = hipsters?
yea most of the people i see who are genuine hipsters wouldn't admit to listening to dubstep, pretty much of any kind...
hipster is a fashion/art movement, not really to do with music, doubt its different in America.

being a "hipster" is about fashion. they're just the coolest kids on the block, there's nothing revolutionary about it. this isn't the 60s you knowSirius wrote:intellectual music.... tis where they started popping out from.

Re: dubstep = hipsters?
Everyone talks about hipsters so much on here.
WHY?
Because you are all hipsters.
WHY?
Because you are all hipsters.
Re: dubstep = hipsters?
the original term of being hip in the 60s... is far different to those that we label as hipsters these days!!Ayatollah wrote:being a "hipster" is about fashion. they're just the coolest kids on the block, there's nothing revolutionary about it. this isn't the 60s you knowSirius wrote:intellectual music.... tis where they started popping out from.

Re: dubstep = hipsters?
i doubt that word carries much meaning anymore... "hipster" culture is pop culture right now. just look at any clothing retailer's catalogue, H&M, Pull&Bear, Topman whatever...neon-dubz wrote:Everyone talks about hipsters so much on here.

Re: dubstep = hipsters?
do you mean the concept where they take old fashion and put them to use in an ironic, "campy" way then when the "mainstream" adopts it they move on to the next forgotten fashion and revive it in the same manner? yah there is absolutely nothing revolutionary or political in that.Sirius wrote:

They don't necessarily more on... the next generation does it for them.
"revolutionary without a backbone" - by this I mean... people that will hold alot of ideals about the need for social change & idolise Che Guevara, yet at the first moment of confrontation... are the first to backdown.
