dubstep seem to just go for the filth borgore style over-hyped stuff rather than listen to the more melodic, what I consider better tunes. I've been listening since I was about 14/15, so only for 3 years or so, but I delved back into the tunes that were around in 03 etc, and I dig their sound, and search out more stuff like them. Sadly not a lot of people my age do that, and prefer to listen to the Mt Eden and borgore shit

.
What really got my back up though is how people would randomly come into school one day and go 'OMG GUYZ I JUST DISCOVERED A BADASS NEW GENRE CALLED DUBSTEP, CHECK OUT THIS MT EDEN GUY HE'S BIG, MMMM COOOKIE MONSTAAA', and I was sitting there with an iPod full of Hatcha, Synkro, DMZ, Coki etc, having known about the genre for a couple of years, and digging the darker, melodic, bass driven sound. Was interesting how when I discovered it no one wanted to know, but suddenly everyone was jumping on the bandwagon. That said there were a few people who got into it the same time I did, and also listen to the darker, non-midrange stuff.
I think there are a lot of scene posers and followers who jumped onto the genre just to look cool will just move on (hopefully soon), and then the people my age who actually know what the genre's about will stay and hopefully continue to move the scene forward

.
Not meaning to sound like an elitist bastard in this btw, just venting somethings which have annoyed me immensely over the past couple of years...
Peace and love

interesting thread, me and my boys were talking about this recently. Im only 23 and sometimes at certain raves i feel so young. We travelled up to Nottingham recently for a Detoante Indoor festival, the Dubstep room was such a good atmosphere and the average age was about 21 i would say, i was a little disappointed cos Mala was on fairly early but it was already ram out. At Sub dub in Leeds and Subloaded at Corscia it was proper mature crowd.
I only pop onto dsf now and then, and dont know ages really of comments but usual just come on here to find out about new people in the scene. My girlfriend hates dubstep and finds it boring, which is good for me, but its been even better because more girls are coming to the raves, before it would be a complete sausage fest. LOL
can anyone suggest any other events on with the midlands and southwest that has a mixture of ages ?

here is a question for people who are playing out or skanking out regular. You looking after your hearing?
Recently been freaked out by the volumes and sounds coming from speakers when I am out. Shitting myself about losing my hearing. Left ear is worse that the right from monitors already.
