I'm not trying to wake Israel up... mainly, I'm trying to influence the opinion of the international community, though there's a small amount of tr0tsky's motivation to show solidarity as well.

To break Godwin's Law and use a much more extreme example, protesting against the izan's would have done no good. However, the British public forcing out their Appeaser Prime Minister (Chamberlain) and getting Churchill in to kick some backsides sorted the problem out without having to change German minds.

In the same way, turning the International Community so that it's more comfortable to use sanctions or even the threat of military action could massively alter Israel's behaviour.

Like I said, it's a slow process. It may take decades... another century even (I sincerely hope not). I'm certain that showing up to a protest, however little it does, still does *infinitely* more than you will acheive sitting at home bitching about it to your mates on the Internet.

Most activism is a thankless undertaking--- just have to ignore the naysayers and do what you think is necessary. Sitting on one's ass abusing other people's efforts to bring about change while doing nothing of any real consequence yourself is a highly effective way of maintaining the status quo, regardless of how progressive or radical your beliefs might be.

I'm still confused on this level of outrage... some is understandable but i think the majority is the old jewish multiplier.

these people knowingly broke a military blockade trying to provoke a reaction out of Israel, yet they're somehow blameless victims when they get the exact reaction they wanted?

The loss of life is unfortunate but this reminds me of the kids who were leaning over throwing rocks at a tiger at the zoo and acted appauled when the tiger mauled one of them.
