I switched to CDJ's this week. I was one of these blokes that swore I'd never switch.
I have to say though, I am well pleased with them. They were a little different at first and kinda tricky to get used to but once you get used to them you can still mix as usually.
It certainly beats having vinyl all over the place, which is a nightmare to lug around. I moved into a 1 bedroom appartment in Birmingham city center, and for those that have seen them ... they are tiny! So that's another plus side digital.
The only bad thing is finding stores that sell the bigger artists tracks as digital. On the opposite side of the fence though the digial on BeatsDigital are shockingly good and really cheap. Another bad thing about the CDJ's is the tempo feature. Really does my head in. You get a habbit of looking at it because it's there. I'm tempted to put a bit of tape over it because I constantly feel like I'm cheating.
Plastician has summed up some of the reasons a DJ might switch.
I think clubs should look after their decks, but most of the club owners dont have a clue was servicing is. Wether we like it or not, eventually there will be very few that use vinyl.

Re: DJ Youngsta - using CD's now??
i was warming up for youngsta at that night and spoke to him before and after his set, he did have a vinyl bag full of dubs but for whatever reason he wasn't pleased with the soundsystem/setup and in his words "didn't want to waste my acetate". guess he thought the soundsystem wasn't worth using up plays on his dubs. so there you go, this thread has given me a pretty good insight into how much shit gets blown out of proportion on this forum aswellpissedone wrote:Saw a clip on Youtube of him using CD's, apparently he was using em in Manc last night
I thought Yunx would be the last DJ to make the switch???
