As far as I'm concerned there are a bunch of DJs and nights that remind me of why I liked dubstep when I first got into it and a bunch of DJs and nights that seem to be interested in some entirely different stuff. So as far as I'm concerned, yes. Not hating, just saying.

From my experiences on this forum when the term 'brostep' started getting tossed around it was most closely linked with the wave of drum and bass folks migrating over and with it less deep sub oriented, reeces, and aspects very closely linked to drum and bass.

I was deeply involved in drum and bass in 2005 but started becoming interested in dubstep around that time. At that time it's not like all of dnb was on board for dubstep. The majority of the conversations I had with my dnb brethren were about how dubstep was going to die, was just a fad, etc etc. You can't deny that there wasnt a massive migration in 2007. Very steep decline in drum and bass at that time, very large interest in dubstep from people in the dnb scene.

cool to see the perspective of one of the post 2000 DnB guys, as i have no reference point... after jungle faded into DnB i kinda gave up on it (around 99) and started listening to garage so by time grime and dubstep rolled along it made perfect sense

About when I started djing (99 or so). Dubstep rolled along for me right when drum and bass started to stagnate for me, though my interests paralleled the breakcore/gabber/hardstep type shit.

I'm having a similar discussion on a local forum where people are shitting on dubstep in general.... saying "FUCK YOU YOUR MUSIC SUCKS" is just fanning the flames. Showing them what I view as good music has resulted in quite a few "oh I like this" responses.

Catch my drift?

Like the USA saying FUCK YOU IMMA BOMB YOU AND YOU WILL BE DEMOCRATIC, where as showing the economic, social, and humanitarian benefits to democracy may have been a better approach.
