I'm not one who feels he needs to "distance" himself from a sound, rather, I'd like to take a stand. Dj abstracts touch being on dubstep all-stars 1 is what cemented this idea in my head early on, as it's not 140 and is rather garagey, yet somehow still dubstep

Bah, just remembered how stupid it is to argue over genre names, I'll let the people who actually care continue with this one

All love!
i'm with you on this one.

It's lasted for decades why change now???
Seriously, House and Garage describes the music discussed and shared in this forum in the most accurate, succinct and universal way. To me.

for any of you that don't venture onto the main forum the awards are now live http://www.dubstepforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=173266

you have to nominate in 4 separate categories i think but hopefully you'll be able to think of things to nominate in 2 other categories other than the 120-140bpm ones

just noticed this thread, i want to shout out badger and dubway for dealing with this thorny issue so well.

best thing about calling the award category "120-140" is everyone knows what it refers to but no one in their right mind is going to think the forum mods are now suggesting this is what the new genre/genres/not-genre/archipelago is actually called. :)

cheers :)

noticed one person comment on the main forum that this award "wasn't needed" but for the most part people seem pretty positive about it which is a good sign. we'll have to wait and see if the main awards turn out the way they did last year with the filth side of things taking over but this section should work out nicely as an alternative if it does
