from what I have heard, SK had live fire exercises for much of this week, the NK gov claim they had 'warned' them not to proceed with them but this hasn't been confirmed. This is the 'first shot' NK claim was fired by SK but in reality it was not an attack. NK then go batshit on SK cos they are so insanely paranoid and hyped for lengage (imo)

can't help that they've been bragging about the progress of their nuke program all week AND the fact that Kim Jong Un is gonna be taking over the helm soon. The massive retaliation quote has already been taken out of context by most major media outlets. Lee said this would be an option if there are further attacks. He also mentioned that whilst they need to deal with the issue sternly, the last thing they want is an unneccesary escalation.

I think the most interesting thing now is to see what China's reaction to this is. Won't be WW3 tho, pretty dumb to leap from this minor skirmish to China vs USA imo

North Korea has a very large army but last time I checked they're on a virtual fucking island. The border with China may as well be the Atlantic Ocean for all intents and purposes. Their nuclear, ICBM, airforce, and navy pose very little threat to anyone.

South Korea/US will never invade North Korea, but if they wanted to disable their ability to conduct war it would take a little over 6-12 hours to completely render their air force and navy ineffective and bomb their nuclear facilities into an inoperable state. a Dozen B-2's could literally cripple everything but their army with nothing more than a few dozen j-dams. If North Korea wants to march 6 million troops south to one of the most highly defended areas on the planet, have at it. The DMZ on the South Korean side is ridiculous.

This raises tensions quite a bit but the idea that this is the start of something huge is kinda funny.

a nuke would be a waste of money. North Korea is Army heavy and otherwise extremely weak. Conventional weapons could completely cripple their ability to conduct war in a matter of hours. All those nukes everyone is worried about could be destroyed by one single B-2, in one single pass.


Let's say shit kicks the fuck off.... you'll see maybe 2 nights of heavy bombing on CNN followed by SK and the US falling back to the DMZ and waiting. NK won't go north, all they can do is go south and once all their fancy toys are destroyed they've got nothing but an army to wage war against two of the strongest air force and navy forces in the world
