i'd like to say that most of us see things in shades of grey. i got no problem stealing to feed my fam, if it ever came to that.

we all draw the line somewhere, it's all good, just wanted to know your rationale is all

if there was a service which offered a library like torrents and non streaming drm free video formats like torrents did with a reasonable price, (like wav, mp3, flac options with audio) i'd be all over it
my issue is they seem to combat this every step of the way

also by your logic streaming a movie is legal, which it's not
How you get that from what I said?!?

No one has made the movie purchase. It is illegal to steal a movie, then invite your friends to come over to watch. All parties are responsible... the hosting site, the computer owner, and the friends partaking in the watching.

you really, honestly, don't understand it. its not a matter of understanding for you because you honestly don't know right from wrong. not trying to insult you man. its just that simple.

who said the party streaming the movie didn't purchase it legally?
i know right from wrong, you just want things to be plain and simple and even the examples you give are technically legally wrong when you get down to it no matter how "implied" right it may seem
that lovely fbi warning on flicks could be applied to having friends over to watch a movie you just bought if you want to get down to it

99.9% of people want to be entertained. 99.9% of those people want to be entertained for free. 99.9% of people who are entertainers want to be appreciated. Fair compensation is one of the best ways to support any artist.

Common sense man. These sites don't have the legal licencing (which enables them to profit an turn royalties to the artists) to broadcast movies. Stop trying to win the argument and just think about it. You want to be entertained and don't want to paid for it! You can try to justify the theft in your mind anyway you want.

why? not a stab i just dont think i understand what your sayin
Well because I always want unreleased stuff to play out, but if I take it and I'm not supposed to have it then I'm contributing to the reason alot of artists don't hand out their music anyway!

If someone gives me a track, then I'll respect their work and not give it out, just seems like common courtesy.
i see what you mean, i think its the way you said accept like youll never even listen to a song a friend sends you

common sense doesn't apply to legalities so stop acting like it does -w-
i can justify that even the copies of dvds i own i ripped myself on my hard drive are illegal and said dvds just collect dust on their cases
i can also justify there is no legal option for me to buy the majority of the movies/tv shows i want in a simple non drm format or shitty proprietary format or system

Well.. if when, or if you do, develop a conscious, and feel sorry for things you've done wrong; I hope you handle it well. Take it from me... the wall fell on hard on me. Regret tore me up man. I vowed to never repeat the same mistakes.

I don't blame you for doing something wrong, because in your mind, I believe you actually think you're not doing anything wrong. I'm just trying to get you to see your error in your thinking.

You really don't see the impact on lives from piracy because it's not in your face like homelessness and street crime.

But from first hand experience, it exists.

my question is how is say renting a movie, having friends over to watch, or lending one you bought to a friend so much more acceptable than someone dling a digital copy?

the company is getting equally hurt from you lending a movie to a friend or having some over to watch as someone downloading it as both original source copies are paid for, but the people viewing it haven't
one is just on a larger scale

DH..

How about buying used movies and used CD's ? How do you feel about tangible physical media that some one buys new, plays for a while, then decides to resale or give away?
