Ya, I started on the harsher stuff, and now I'm getting to be a bit over it. To me, it's really only fun live. Then, it's awesome. It can be appropriate in the right setting, but even then it can get monotonous, but that also depends on the DJ, mixing etc2nd chance wrote:Ya, I started on the harsher stuff, and now I'm getting to be a bit over it. listen to datsiks animale remix and tell me that.Gingepiece wrote:Another thing with artists like this is that they rely on build ups then huge drops... they dont make tunes that just start and all the elements merge together, like most of malas tunes and various others.
And there should be a neither option to make the vote fair really.
they're both really good but datsik is better. every rls is so hard hitting everytime.
the one thing downlink has going for him is very limited remixes, i cant even count them on one hand, which shows his production skill and lack of writers block.

Re: Downlink vs Datsik
Poppin' the first-post-cherry right here.
I've only started listening to dubstep since about mid-July when my friend put on the first 10 minutes of Excision's Shambhala 2008 mix. From then on I got introduced to a whole boatload of other artists just by coming here and watching you guys discuss them, so I thank you all for the knowledge.
As far as Datsik vs. Downlink? There shouldn't have to be a choice. Whether you like the unfortunate sub-genre that they've been put into or not, you have to admit that what they create is in its own way, creative. They thought of each beat, each drop, each synth to use, and even each audio clip from random movies. They're extremely talented in their own ways, just as the likes of Benga, Coki, or anyone else in that same sense. There's prolly a good reason why they fill up venues and manage to live off of what might of been just a hobby to them in the beginning. .
What's great about having these guys around is that they offer up different sounds to listen to. When I just wanna rage, I'll listen to Datsik and Excision. When I wanna chill out and have time to myself, I listen to Burial. When I wanna be that obnoxious fucker who drives around with his music a little too loud, I'll listen to Borgore. AND THIS ONE, I'm already aware of the amount of shit I'm about to take for this, but I find Mt. Eden to be the easiest to sleep to. Inb4 "Mt. Eden isn't dubstep and saying that makes you out to be another kid who typed dubstep into youtube". It's a preference of mine, deal with it. Not like I was proclaiming him the second coming of Christ.
Datsik, Downlink, and all the other producers that make a living out of this, keep doing what you're doing. Because I'm going to keep listening to this music to the bitter end.

Re: Downlink vs Datsik
DatsiK is laid back like hip-Hop where Downlink is aggressive like D&B. That's how I look at them, can't really say who's better. Although, Excision & DatsiK is fangasmic whereas Excision & Downlink I can live without.
