Take one of the biggest, most established 'heads' drum and bass raves, I dunno, Renegade Hardware maybe, and compare it DMZ. Are you trying to tell me that the amount of drug use (and I'm not talking about weed here) would be at a similar level?!
Or perhaps you've never been to either?
I've only been to one DMZ at Phoenix Bar and was 3 years ago (I'm american) but there was still rampant drug use. Older more mature crowds simply handle their drugs better, do it with less neon colors, and generally don't wear pacifires.
And mentioning drum and bass is bare lulz friend. Was knee deep in the drum and bass scene for 15 years.... had a Hardware artist stay at my pad in San Diego and after the show dude was asking about getting coke and hookers.

one of the reasons that Dubstep nights used to be awesome was that there was no one on hard drugs, round my ends anyway. Then the drum n bass kids came in

prime example of american's not understanding irony.
Re: have you said drugs ?
Clearly British people are born with an innate sense of irony and wit that simple, boorish Americans can never come close to.noam wrote:prime example of american's not understanding irony.
Re: have you said drugs ?
if that was intended to be clever, the irony is that it was not in any way ironic, and instead, reverted to the childish and overtly american humour of 'sarcasm' - which in fact IS ironic, given the context of the joke.

Erm, you've missed my point. What I'm saying is drum and bass raves DO tend to have a lot of drug use, more so than dubstep raves.pkay wrote:trapeez wrote:FanboyFucking hell.

You've never been to a to heads dubstep rave in the uk, so how can you try and tell me that there's rampant drug use at them?
Just accept that fact america is different, you seem to have a massive chip on your shoulder about it. Friend.

I haven't been to a heads show in the uk? lol You're assuming you know anything about me. Spent 6 months in the UK over the past 7 years. In the most recent month i was in the UKin 2008, went to 16 shows including a DMZ show. Not saying I'm the most experienced UK party goer ever, but I got a fair taste of your scene in the times I was there. Also spent 3 months in UK in 2004 and another month in 99. I've spent time in your country and done quite a fair bit of party going. Brought quite a few of your best artists to the USA, and worked with many
It's the same as it is everywhere else. The more commercial the venue the more commercial the crowd. Under 18 brings in under 18 year olds. Quality of music doesn't magically equate to less drug useage. More mature crowds tend to be less spastic, not less intoxicated.
Really wish people would stop trying to define themselves by the music they listen to and the parties they attend. It's not an insult to you if people around you use drugs.

noam wrote:prime example of american's not understanding irony.
god damn, noam, with this post, you have proven that you are supremely retarded.
first of all, i'm not american, so how about you reserve your presumptions for once, genius....
second:
phrex likes the (fizzy beverage) coke, and hates the (drug) coke (which used to be included in the beverage which he enjoys)..... this is...... (prepare for a mindfuck), irony. the fact that i had to break it down for you makes me almost feel your embarrassment, you pathetic tool.Ironic statements (verbal irony) often convey a meaning exactly opposite from their literal meaning
fuck you. and you're not clever.
EDIT: LOL why am i even trying to talk sense to someone who uses "american's" in a possessive sense when it's clearly meant as a plural? going the extra mile to add an apostrophe where it isn't even correct, and then trying to define irony....
Re: have you said drugs ?
From the parties I've been too, drug use is high as ever. Seems everyone is taking something. But I've come from a music scene where drug use minus weed isn't common place and Dubstep was the first EDM genre to actually get me interested and keep me interested. So came as a bit of a shock when the drug use is so blatant but I am getting used to it, each to their own.
