He sings, real name Abel Tesfaye and the beats are largely handled by dudes called Illangelo and Doc McKinney, also there is a producer by the name of DropxLife who co-produced Initiation and has given out 2 EPs of instrumentals (check them out) which fit the Weeknd/XO aesthetic
thats well sick i defo wanna check out those instramental eps, sometimes i just wanna vibe to some instrumentals i like the vocal stuff and all, depends on the mood im in
I get that, DropxLife is good, but Clams Casino (mentioned above) is the best for just vibing to instrumentals I'd say. Here's the mastered Instrumentals album thing that was a big deal this year -

really vibing to Echoes. Nice to have something completely different to listen to (i dont listen to any other RnB). I find a small part of me telling myself to stop listening to such soppy/ emotional bullshit, but i just ignore it
Can't stop listening to Next... its really nice

this 100 %. different kind of listening experience to dubstep though.

The beats are produced by Doc McKinney and Illangelo mostly, they're basically in-house producers for him.

Yeah his live performances are a bit hit and miss. Crew Love seems to go off though.
He tweeted that the re-mastering of the trilogy is in process

only problem with the shows I've seen is the crowd singing every lyric the whole time... ruff
seeing him again on the 11th, should be fun either way

he does have a good voice but it sounds like he relies heavily on pitch correction, just like his big bro Drake. I dig that anti-vibrato, straight pitch type of thing though, don't really know how to describe it
