They have never won an nba championship. Only been to the finals once in 2006 when we were up 2-0 against Miami and proceeded to choke and lose the series. This is where Dallas gets their 'soft' reputation.

The reason the Mavs have never won is we've never had an inside presence at all. Put it this way. Tyson Chandler has played for Dallas for a total of 9 months and is already the greatest center in Dallas Maverick history.

That's why things are different. Since 2006 the team has been entirely gutted from top to bottom. Only Dirk and JET were on the 2006 team. Mark Cuban did a stellar job of rebuilding this team and i think if ever this is Dallas's year

No doubt the Mavs are doing well right now but I think they're getting a little too much credit. Beating the Laker's wasn't really a huge accomplishment considering how terrible they played (the Lakers), so the winning streak isn't as impressive as it would be against possibly a better team.

Dirk is a monster and is almost unstoppable, but to say that the team is unstoppable might be jumping the gun just a tad. Im not betting against them, but Im definitely curious to see what OKC has up their sleeves.

On a side note, I would love to see Bulls and Mavs in the finals. High hopes for both teams!

Think Chicago could shut down Barea. But Dirk... who can guard a 7 footer that hits 80% of his 12-14 foot fade aways? Fucking psycho.

My point regarding Dirk's time on the bench... dallas had no production from the rest of their squad. Granted if Dirk is collapsing the D there are going to be open high percentage shooters, but the point remains, if OKC can find a way to curtail, not stop, but curtail Dirk, stop JJ's penetration, they can live with Dallas's perimeter shooting. I think. Those are huge if's. I feel that they were calling fairly bs fouls against anyone guarding Dirk, if that alone changes, could shift the balance of the whole matchup. Have to remember that OKC didn't quit, and they were close the whole time. In games like that, very subtle shifts can affect the outcome significantly.

Also think OKC, as young and fast as they are, were tired. Don't know if that is going to change much, but it looks like it was a factor. I am not writing this one off. Dirk cools off, westbrook heats up, everyone returns to their normal games, could be different.

But that game was boring, I hope the officials let them play the next game.

As opposed to OKC who played a 5 and an 8 seed? The Nuggets and the Grizzlies?

The Mavs played the 2 teams going into the playoffs no one wanted to play in the west. No one wanted any part of Portland in the west. They were everyones upset special. No one wanted any part of the lakers going into the playoffs and Dallas crushed them.

When are people going to start giving the Mavs the credit they deserve? The lakers didnt just suck and the Mavs took advantage. The mavs MADE the lakers look bad.

Shawn Bradley was so fucking terrible. 7 foot 6 guy who only averaged 8 pts and 6 rebounds a game

Lakers fucked up game one and it cracked their delicate psyche. hehe. I don't think anyone is detracting from the Mav's accomplishments, but I don't think this series is over.

Just got back from the game

What you saw tonight was the single greatest NBA playoff performance of our generation.

The best playoff performance since Jordans flu game in '97
Holy shit he wrecked them in the face. Incredible athlete. And Jason terry's 3pt at the end shut it down. Big ups Dallas.

It didn't help that Dwayne Wade got 20 free throws a game for tripping over his own shoelaces. I hate the whole "ref conspiracy" bullshit, but man the officiating in that series was fucking ridiculous. And I'm not even a Dallas fan.

I think any team in the West could've beat the Lakers solely based on how they played in that series. Dallas definitely played well, but it didn't take much to shut down the big headed Lakers.

Obviously last night wasn't the Mavs average game so I'm curious to see if the Thunder bounce back. I think this series could end up being very close.

I used the one from NBA.com or whatever. It's a weird angle with no game clock but it seems to be the smoothest so I tolerate it.

Bulls dropped the ball offensively and lost but it's not too rough since their defense was spot on as usual. Hopefully Rose can ignite again in game 3.

Haslem being back is very bad news for Chicago.

You could tell Chicago wasn't used to having someone play D back to them.

Was a better game, in terms of interest. Pretty much down to the wire. Sit down westbrook, get your head in the game, superstar. OKC was really playing their hearts out. Don't know if they can sustain the effort.
