DMZ last night
Shit. I left on Hatcha's second track. I knew I ws gonna miss something unspeakably bad. I couldn't stand up anymore though.hopper wrote:ozols man wrote:^ i think i left at 4, the atmosphere "lost" a little something around this time...the last two hours were two hours were sick mate.
Shame about some of the sound glitches.
Tracks of the night for me were Distances last one - Feel Me (Genius!)
And that fuckin mental Coki track which got relicked about 4 times!!

which are both killer tracks.

Thought this one was pretty disappointing compared to last time (yes, last time was out of the ordinary, but still). No real momentum setwise or proper vibes until Loefah and Mala came on, and both Benga and Distance seemed content to play half their back catalogue that we've heard a hundred times already, with painfully predictable mixing to boot. It's a shame I was forced to leave around 4am due to my stomach giving me a hard time, Hatcha was really getting down to business at that point.
I agree with the the points raised about the soundsystem, it really starts to get on my nerves that you have to constantly listen to the conversation of the group of people next to you while trying to get into the music. I've yet to experience the "wow"-effect people claim Mass' system has on a good night.
Still, wicked tunage to be heard as per usual. That new Bug/Flow Dan-tune sounded really good, though I suspect that the original is superior to it, as was the case with Jah War. I didn't expect a low key tune like Feel Me to get a rewind, which really made me smile. Finally, Pinch - Boots needs to come out pronto. Shuffling snare drum whipping goodness.
Out to Hopper who I bumped into briefly in the hallway. I could've done with your door blagging skills when I was at your age

I thought Appleblim's was the best set, rammed with ideas, rhythm and depth that is missing from lot of high energy sets these days. Big.

I stand corrected.BASH wrote:"That new Bug/Flow Dan-tune sounded really good, though I suspect that the original is superior to it, as was the case with Jah War."
There is no remix of 'Skeng' at present. The version Loefah played was produced by The Bug.

offtopic: This reminds me of the Warrior Dubz-party last year. I remember seeing Killa P zoned out in the hallway, spitting bars for himself to Plastician's set before going b2b with Flow Dan on The Bug's set afterwards. Good to see something bigger came out of that.

lol too true - i didn't notice any issues after the pause when distance came on, but hey... well, maybe that's why i wasn't going too nuts during mystikz & loefah.pk- wrote:the sound 'issues' really didn't affect my night that much at all...maybe i've just not got as professional an ear as everyone else
