Re: Help Me Make That Sound - August 2011
Yeah definitely effects added. Reeses are all about the processing or else, they wouldn't sound so great imo. I would route all the oscillators through the same processing and just be careful how you automate it. And a phaser is good if you control it and change the parameters to fit the sound better. I use phasers all the time in my reeses.

it's starting to get more "popular"...it's that chugging machine gun type bass...I have some idea that massive's performer might give way, but I wanted to hear what you all thought. I think it's bass rather than some good drum work, but just not too sure...Also it is drum step ya? 160-170ish bpm?
here is another example of that type of bass:

Hey so I'm just totally stuck on the bass in this song, the drop is so powerful probably because of a number of factors, but im just in love with the bass. I'm pretty inexperienced with producing but I've been messing around on Massive and I can't get anything close, when my basses start to get bigger they pack less punch...Anyone have any ideas on how to create a strong bass like that?

I take it you can't be bothered to go through all the wavetables/spectral sounds on your synth to get that same timbre?
If you do you might find 20 better sounds by experimenting.

Or
I would like to learn to make a similar bass in these 3 tracks, The basses in Exponaut E621 and Bloodfire - Jamming are fairly similar and its the best example of what im trying to achieve i can get.
As for the Bass in Badklaat - Zonk dem i understand it's classed as a "Vocal Bass" and requires Bit crushing or something like that, I've tried making this bass myself without help from Dubstep Forum but no such luck. I've heard somewhere that Badklaat uses Reason to make Dubstep but im not sure if this is true, As for me i am using FL Studio 9 with NI Massive which has a built in Bitcrusher and that Sample and Hold effect which can be applied. Im not to sure if it's possible to make this bass in NI Massive if it is made in Reason but thats why im here. All help will be appriciated and thanks in advance.

Anyone know how Eptic makes the bass at the drop here? (55 seconds)
I'm using Reason so any advice for the synths in Reason would be appreciated

That Daft Punk-esque lead sound from 00:00 to 00:17
What parameters are being modulated exactly?

Better than having loads of threads about recreating basses when you could just have this one thread to post it in, The Production, Hardware and Technical Sub Forum would be over flowing with threads about making basses if it wasn't for this one.Drop_Dead wrote:So my thread got blocked cos I was meant to post in here. Re: Help Me Make That Sound - August 2011
Yeah guess. Maybe separate this into one for bass and one for everything else?HysteriaDubstep wrote:Better than having loads of threads about recreating basses when you could just have this one thread to post it in, The Production, Hardware and Technical Sub Forum would be over flowing with threads about making basses if it wasn't for this one.Drop_Dead wrote:So my thread got blocked cos I was meant to post in here. Sounds like an envelope on the pitch section of an oscillator. Don't know though, not as experienced as some.GothamHero wrote:

It's defenitly not the pitch. It's on envelope controlling the cutoff frequency on a lowpass filter. Slow attackMammoth wrote:Sounds like an envelope on the pitch section of an oscillator. Don't know though, not as experienced as some.GothamHero wrote:

Now my sound isn't as complex as his but I have the basic idea down. He also adds a bit more delay during the sustain portion and a bit of wet reverb during the sustain portion as well. Although he could be using a completely sepearate synth for the sustain portions. any ways, if you have any other questions about it, just ask. Hope this helps.
