Im not trying to make excuses for the Police, and Im sure it is more than likely that they have fucked up and are trying to cover it up, however this guy must have been known to them already and carrying a gun isnt going to lower your chances of getting killed.
Did you hear about the barrister who had an all night stand off with the police. Who was stood there pointing a gun at police for hours and nothing happened, well he got shot, but only when the police could justify the use of force. The barrister had raised his gun into a position where it was aimed at a police officer.

Apparently the guy in Tottenham had the gun in a sock in his car. I get what your saying, carrying a gun will probably raise your chances of getting killed. But the use of force in these two cases is massively disproportionate.

Tell that to people in Egypt.

I doubt there is a country in the world that wasn't founded by violence.

Governments want you to think peaceful protest is the way to get stuff done, but really who would have heard of this Totenham shooting without the riots?

Saying that, there was looting over a few parts of London last night, Brixton getting in on it. Doubt they have anything to do with protest- just engoying a bit of looting and smashing.

"The deputy mayor for policing in London, Kit Malthouse, has told Sky News that the capital is one of the "safest big cities on earth". He's also suggested that some people are using the shooting of Mark Duggan as an excuse to steal "a new set of trainers or whatever it is"."
From the guardian.

But it sounds likely that the first shot was fired by the police, possibly accidently, with the other officers thinking that it was the suspect firing.

We can speculate all we like about what happened, however its likely that the only people that really know are the police, and thats the way its likely to stay.

what would happen if the reports come back and its found that mark duggan never fired, or even raised a weapon at an officer, and the shooting was an accidental discharge from another officer which in turn led to the shooting of mark

i could imagine every building being burnt to flames

Hopefully it will spread to the West Ham/Upton Park area......quite alot of that area could do with being burnt down.

what are you talking about? the protests in egypt were 99% peaceful and were some of the largest the world has ever seen. The only violence was started by the outgoing government and people unrelated to the cause.

And worldwide the story isn't about the Totenham shooting. Out of a 1500 word article theres maybe 15-20 words about the shooting. The story is now the riots.

This is what our generation does not realize. When you react with violence YOUR REACTION becomes the story. The media, the public, the government completely disregard any point you may have had because of your irrational reaction.

Martin Luther King understood this and played his hand as such. If they did not react the story remained about their cause and their oppositions reaction.

Governments honestly want riots. your government is tickled that those people rioted. Are you kidding? They can use that video as an example on why the police force is needed. Governments hate true peaceful protest. The government gains nothing from a true peaceful protest. Ask Egypt :p

Egypt looked like some pretty violent protesting to me!

And the shooting might not be the story abroad but its big news here.

governments gain nothing from peaceful protest, so they all line up and walk into you....provoking violence.

look what happened to M.l.k.....as much as the ideal of a non violent revolution sounds amazing if it was to happen, it's clearly not gonna go that way. those that begin with peaceful intention will get prodded, jabbed, and hit until the only reaction is self defense / attack back. Seems as if the majority of the people out there though aren't politically motivated or even all motivated by getting 'justice' and answers from the shooting.

out of chaos comes order. lets just hope its a re-order and not a reinforcement of the previous.

just saw this on the guardian website
the guardian wrote:My colleague Paul Lewis has got hold of one of the BBM messages that was circulating on Blackberry phones last night.

He writes:

It is hard to verify, but multiple sources have sent me this identical message - still, we need to be cautious. If authentic, it explains one of the the less reported (and understood) aspects of last night's disturbances: the appearance of a small numbers of looters in the early hours of the morning in Oxford Circus. I don't know where they came from, but central London is a long way to travel from most residential areas in the capital with no public transport. That puts to rest any doubt that the disturbances are highly organised:
Everyone from all sides of London meet up at the heart of London (central) OXFORD CIRCUS!!, Bare SHOPS are gonna get smashed up so come get some (free stuff!!!) fuck the feds we will send them back with OUR riot! >:O
Dead the ends and colour war for now so
if you see a brother... SALUT!
if you see a fed... SHOOT!
We need more MAN then feds so Everyone run wild, all of london and others are invited! Pure terror and havoc & Free stuff....just smash shop windows and cart out da stuff u want! Oxford Circus!!!!! 9pm, we don't need pussyhole feds to run the streets and put our brothers in jail so tool up,

Oxford Circus 9pm if u see a fed stopping a brother JUMP IN!!! EVERYONE JUMP IN ****** will be lurking about, all blacked out we strike at 9:15pm-9:30pm, make sure ur there see you there. REMEMBA DA LOCATION!!! OXFORD CIRCUS!!!
