The track that got you into dubstep?
Re: The track that got you into dubstep?
Had a few 12's before Warrior Dubz dropped, but this was the one that did me in. WD in general is a classic.
Re: The track that got you into dubstep?
I never really listened to any electronic music and barely even knew what dubstep was, but one drunken night I had an urge for something dark sounding so I searched youtube for 'dark techno and this was what came up:
Well actually not this exact video, it was just labeled as 'dark techno' and not much else for a description. At the time it seemed like the darkest most atmosphetic electronic music I have ever heard and I wanted more. After a bit of searching I found out it was a Vaski tune so I searched more for him. This search of course led me to many 'brostep' producers who were very hit or miss for me and it wasn't until I found Liquid Stranger and wondered why some of his tunes were 'brosteppy' yet others were more relaxed and atmospheric that my curiosity was really piqued. Yadda yadda yadda, as I do when I find something I am interested in I did more research on the history of dubstep which of course led me here and found out that the deep tunes are more to my liking.
Still do like that Vaski tune though, if only for posterity's sake.

NME.com gave away Lion's Roar by Caspa haha, then i heard Caspa's Deadmau5 remix and that kinda got me hooked on the bass, and then i found fabriclive 37 obvs, and have since moved on to leave all that shite behind haha.
i heard burial, must have been like a year or two before though, and thought his music and dubstep in general was boring, and slow, and too stripped back, but now I have learnt from my mistakes!

Re: The track that got you into dubstep?
At first it was the doorly dubstep remix of Man Like Me - London Town. That was when I first discovered dubstep. For two years I sat in rooms, and gardens, with my hipster friends, listening to all of this Nero, Bare Noize, and Zeds Dead which, to be fair, I did quite like.
But I had a massive dubstep revolution a few months ago.
Someone mentioned Skream's Glamma in a post on dsf, I youtube'd it and thought yeah this is big. I then heard Digital Mystikz -Thief In Da Night and my mind was in all kinds of fuck. I just got it. I understood it and loved it. And I've been hoovering up dmz releases, and 2006 skream releases ever since.

Took dubstep to a whole different level.
Think 'Diary of an Afro Warrior' was the first stuff I heard.
Yes that was real. I started listening to a bunch of Burial, thinking that he was ambient style music. Then I googled around and figured out about Digital Mystikz and Loefah. Without that song I wouldn't be on this forum.
