the thing is though, its not like suddenly everyone is jumping on techno and house as in the producers and djs, they have always been into it, aswell as being into whatever they did before, just because instra:mental did dnb doesnt mean they didnt do anything else, they have always liked techno. scuba started out doin techno, you can tell by the extensive collection that joy o and ben ufo play that they havent just started getting into techno and house, they have always bought it. one of the things i like about, some of the sets is how they play alot of different stuff though, yes they play house, but they also play clasic dubstep, grime, garage etc. which is far more exciting.

oh my he has been into techno for 2-3 years, bloody hell he shouldnt even be able to say the word techno yet! this big house/techno sound has only just started getting big in the last year really, 2-3 years ago everyone was still bumming dubstep so i dont see how it has just been a sudden shift to get away from dubstep.

I personally really like the stuff coming from joy-o, brackles, shortstuff, the hessle crew, and a lot of the swamp81 output, and have for some years now. Still, I can appreciate the disappointment one feels when one is hyped to go out to a night where a real legend of the dubstep sound is dj-ing (won't name names) and gets a to hear an hour or 2 of straight 4/4 house instead. Any style starts to sound bland if you're listening to the same drum rhythm for 2 hours; 4/4, halfstep, the amen break, dem bow riddim, whatever. Its up to the dj to change it up and keep it interesting so quality tunes stand out instead of disappearing into the redundancy of 'boom, boom, boom, boom,' or 'boom , bap, boom, bap' all night long.

^ agree'd! although I can't think of any big names from the dubstep world who play 2 hours of straight 4X4 very often..

Maybe he was just catering to the Paris club crowd (though they do tend to lap up the dubstep). Thats why im not naming names based on one set that may or may not have been a bit out of context scene-wise.

not sure its fair to lump all 'bass music' (not sure what else to call it) together, if you look at stuff like pangaea hex, a made up sound - take the plunge, peverlist - dance till the police come, objekt - cactus etc, thats all pretty innovative imo, takes influences from everywhere but you cant really label it as anything. its not 'bland house' for sure.

also with all this stuff so far away from dubstep, does it not almost go without saying that some people who got into dubstep early wont like it? its a completey different genre, theres always gonna be some people who dont like it.
